I liked that the year on the sidewalk was the same as my parents' birthyear...
This was in the shadow of the Bargain Center, a military gear surplus store...

Bert probably would have liked to explore in there. It was a bit too Rambo for us so we forged on...
Turns out that Ray Street has an event called "Ray at Night" every 2nd Saturdy of each month where the tiny street is closed off, shops are open along with entertainment from musicians and various vendors selling their wares. Never been.

There was a small parking lot with murals that was surrounded by businesses on the bottom and apartments on top...

Another shop on Ray Street had vintage Pyrex cookware. I think my mom and Bert's still have their sets at home.

Wonder how much they're worth now...
On the corner of Ray St. and 30th was this cute mural on the side of the Wang's building.

Mark Paul Deren, a street artist from California also known as Madsteez is the one who did this whimsical mural. Accoridng to the different articles I read, the mural was completed late last March 2012 and took five days and ten gallons of paint to complete.
I love the little red monster happily riding on the dinosaur as well as the shadows on the building!

Love this!

Hi there, do you remember anything more about the location/name of that vintage store w the pyrex? Believe it or not, I collect that stuff (in aqua only, mostly refrig dishes) and that store looks worth checking out. Thx!
Hello Fra Ambrosius - thanks for stopping by!
i didn't catch the name of the store (i normally take a picture of their signage but not that day), but i believe it's a sister store to pigment (which is on 30th st around the corner, next to urban solace).
you won't be able to miss this store. if you take the 805 to university, head west and then left on ray st. you will pass by the dinosaur mural and the store with the pyrex will be on your left.
the store was closed the day i snapped the shots. hopefully you can go there and check it out. :)
i want to check my mom's cupboards now for her pyrex!
Thank you so much for getting back to me! And thx for the info!
you're welcome! i hope you get a chance to go there and maybe add something to your collection! :)
