We continued our trip along the 1...
and deeper into Humboldt County...
where stickers like this are commonplace...
I made sure to snap a few pix here since once of my students was accepted here along with the son of one of my good friends. My former student was so excited to get the photo; she can't wait to start university at HSU!
Of course, we had to stop by a local coffee shop in Arcata...
The next town up had an unusual attraction behind the local Safeway...
Randomly, it was next to this old time Barber Shop (closed the day of our visit) which had taxidermied animals in it!
The town above McKinleyville was even prettier...
The town's local smokehouse is known for their delicacies such as this brown sugar smoked salmon...
Onward we drove through our third tree up in Klamath...
where we visited this tourist attraction. Please note that Babe the Ox is, uh, anatomically correct.
We were excited to see a real banana slug on the forest floor (along with hundreds of trampled millipedes)...
The view of the treetops atop the Sky Gondola were awesome...
After more driving, we made sure to stop by this sign. On the opposite side of the highway was a "Welcome to California" sign" for those folks leaving Oregon!
We didn't stay too long in Oregon. Just enough to try some seafood and treats from this place...
Down in Crescent City where we stayed, we took a look from afar at their lighthouse, which is only acessible during low tide.
It was time to call it a night.
We had a lot of driving to do the next day to get down to the City by the Bay...
