We were curious about Kate Sessions Park especially after having visited the Mission Hills Nursery...
Kate Sessions was known as "The Mother of Balboa Park" and introducted many plants and trees in the park, many of which are still there today,
The park is on Soledad Mountain road but you can also access it by going up Lamont St from Garnet Ave in PB.

It wasn't as clear as I hoped it would be but we didn't mind. We saw a group of young women practicing yoga, one tree climber and many folks walking their dogs and a few walking laps around the park. In a separate area of the park was a playground for young children. There was also lots of green space for kids and dogs to run around. Since it was early morning, it was still pretty quiet and we could hear the birds chirping away...
On a more clear day, you would be able to see Mission Bay, downtown and the ocean.

It's worth a visit, especially on a clear day. I'd love to come back with Bert and TC and have a picnic here.

Unfortunately my car battery died while we were about to leave the park. I had to call Triple AAA and the guy came over within 15 minutes. Now that's fast service! He ended up jumping the battery and then replaced it with a new one. That was $119 and some change. It turns out that our battery was pretty much dead. Bert checked his records and saw that the battery was five years old so we were due for a new one. Good thing this happened in a way. It would have sucked if it happened during our planned road trip!
