It was nice to have a three day weekend...

For Labor Day, we went to visit Bert's mom out in Lakeside but first, a lunch stop...

Cotija's, Santee

With my one lone blueberry filledpowdered donut in tow, breakfast was just up the street...

literally a few steps away from the original Mary's Donuts...

Out with the old (not quite) and in with the new! Mary's Donuts

Bert showed me a video posted last night of the opening of the new Mary's Donuts...

For old time's sake, we visited the old location first (it's actually still open)...

Donutopolis

Cathy alerted me to a new donut shop in her 'hood. It's on the corner of Cuyamaca and Mast.

It's in the tiny lot with the 7-11, but we parked behind it on the downslope where you can see this sign (where incidentally, the second location of Industrial Grind Coffee)...

At the beginning of February, the donut shop's signage still wasn't out yet.

With my precious Mary's donuts ensconced in the back seat...

I made my way to this strip mall...

Mary's Donuts is alive for another month or so...

Dramatic cloud cover made a pretty picture as I made my pilgrimage to Mary's Donuts...

which will remain open until next month...

Kaffee Meister once again + the return to Valley Foods

Earlier today we made the trek out to East County...

(en route on the 125 toll road)

TC had her first tennis tournament at a local high school.

To kill time and to get some caffeine in our system, we went to our favorite coffee shop in East County...

The name of this bakery seems a bit odd especially since it was just a regular bakery and nothing to wild and crazy inside...

Sometime last month Bert and I made the trip up to Santee (aka Cathy's 'hood)...

I had some coupons to use and decided to try to kill three or four birds with one stone...

In this stripmall  with a "wide variety" of services...

Our last stop in Santee was also down the road...
where you will see this sign. Look for GTM.

It just says 'bakery' on the sign since the full name would take up too much space...

The Cupcake Store and The Friendly Used Book Store

Before heading out, we walked the short distance from Kaffee Meiste over to the other side of the strip mall where these two businesses reside...

I was actually planning on just going to the cupcake place...

but was tempted by the rolling carts filled with used books and movies (yes, on VHS and yes we still have a VHS player, ha ha!)....

Earlier this morning, Bert and I met up with Cathy and her Mister for coffee...

once again, in their 'hood, Santee...

We had the coffee last time and now we wanted to give breakfast a try during one of our last "breakfast while TC is at practice" outings...
