March 15, 2020.  This was the first weekend that the spectre of covid-19 had become a reality for many. School was cancelled for the following week. There was talk of sheltering at home (that would come later) and mask wearing was not yet prevalent...

TC had a free morning so off we went for breakfast, but first...

It's that time of the year when coffee places offer drinks that evoke that "holiday" feeling...

I was kind of glad because I strongly disliked all of the pumpkin flavored items that were out there for public consumption. Out with the fall drinks and in with the winter...

Earlier today, D and I went out for an a morning adventure...

This weekend while I was out and about, I took the long way from Golden Hill to North Park...

I was already on 25th, so I hung a right on 28th and as I approached B St, I made an illegal u-turn when I saw THIS...

Anikin's Fruit & Deli, Golden Hill + Golden Hill Park

TC is learning how to drive and at the time of this visit, hadn't completely finished her six hours of on the road instruction...

That didn't deter us from having her drive from a nearby coffee shop in North Park to Golden Hill...

Sadly, there was no parking in this lot with new (to me) solar panels...

Departing from Horton Plaza via the 94 brought us to Dark Horse on 25th...

I saw on Instagram that they had a rather novel preparation of cold brew...

which we all wanted to try...

We had the whole morning before us before picking up TC later that afternoon...

Our first stop was for coffee at the newest Dark Horse...

in front of the Golden Hill Fire Department, with it's fabulous art deco style building.  Sufficiently caffeinated by our drinks from the newest location of Dark Horse Coffee...we made our way north on 25th for lunch...
