After checking out the murals at the Beach Chalet at the Golden Gate Park Visitor's Center, we headed east towards the Inner Sunset...

We drove on Lincoln St, which is parallel to the bottom of Golden Gate Park. Here are the gates...

My fears of crappy street parking were realized as we drove past block after block of filled streets...

SF Roadtrip Day 2 - John's Ocean Beach Cafe

[Update - This place is now GONE as in FOREVER.  The whole block was torn down May 2015 to make room for a new commercial/business development. Sad panda.]

It's the return of the SF Road Trip pix from when we went up for my former student's wedding, which was held here, the SF Zoo...

located right across the street from this local eatery, John's Ocean Beach Cafe...

which is literally steps away from the beach. You can see the Great Highway  at the intersection and after that is San Francisco's own Ocean Beach...

But first, breakfast on Day 2 of our mini road trip...

Beach 'n Boba Cafe Fail...Plan B - Return to Eggette's

We found out while trolling that four lettered site that many places close by either 9 or 10 pm in the Sunset district. My cousin wanted us to try this place called Beach 'n Boba Cafe, which was on Taraval.

I remembered seeing it while on the streetcar.  My cousin and my niece (her oldest who is in college) really like this place and wanted to take us there...

SF Road Trip - Day 1 Highlights

It was fun taking a day off work, making this a "four day weekend" instead of the typical three for Labor Day... The occasion? We were invited to attend the wedding of one of my former students up in San Francisco which of course meant another road trip!

If you know our MO, then you should already know where these pastries came from....

Here are just a few highlights of today...

Immediately after our hearty breakfast at Irving Street Cafe, we checked out a few places nearby...

The intersection of 9th and Irving is considered the heart of the Inner Sunset. A bakery that my former student recommended was just up the street...

Now that I've finished my Canada posts, I looked through my photos and saw with dismay that I still need to finish our LA Roadtrip post (from February) and our Bay Area Roadtrip post (from Spring Break)...so, like the tortoise trying to finish a race...slowly but surely will I finish these posts...

Day Four of our vacation would bring us to the Inner Sunset District...

My former student and my cousin both suggested hipster type places for breakfast in the Richmond District (just above the Sunset)...

Did I listen to them?

With all due respect, it was apparent that I did not. Instead we went to an established neighborhood greasy spoon...

Bay Area Roadtrip - Day 4 Highlights

This morning we had dinner at a neighborhood eatery in the Inner Sunset...

which is purportedly Chris ("Wicked Game") Isaak's favorite place to eat in the city. Unfortunately he wasn't there the morning of our visit (awwww), but we enjoyed the laid back ambiance.

We explored a few more shops along that same stretch of street...

Pollyann Ice Cream

How lucky were we to have two cool dessert places side by side? When MRC suggested the ice cream place next door, I wasn't sure at first because we had already eaten those egg shaped waffles. After I found out that this place made their own ice cream and was practically considered an "institution" in San Francisco, my mind was already made up...

I was sold when she told me that her husband used to go here when he was a kid and his father before him as well.

Eggette's

This turned out to be a very awesome night. Dinner at the mysterious Korean place, then dessert which was also on Noriega but a few blocks away between 38th and 39th. My cousin and her daugher suggested Eggette's.

Toyose

After our visit to Thane's, our GPS guided us to the freeway and onto a street that passed through the Saint Francis Wood neighborhood in the City. These were some of the homes we saw off of Monterey Street as we made our way to the Outer Sunset District where my cousin lives.
