Like last  year, it also rained, but luckily, not as hard. As you can see, the sun did come out that afternoon. However before heading to the building, I first went to the bakery across the street from Asian Cafe...

Tomorrow- Filipino Sun Festival 2014

Tomorrow will be the inaugural Filipino Sun Festival...



which will be held at Mira Mesa Park on the corner of Mira Mesa Blvd. and New Salem Street...

TC will be doing her volunteer hours while we plan to check out the fun and festivities...

The Asian Cultural Festival

As mentioned earlier, we wanted to see the Asian Cultural Festival at the NTC Park in Liberty Station. May is Asian Pacific Heritage Month. Apparently, this is the fourth year of this festival, but the first time I've ever heard of it.

Since we didn't walk in the right direction and didn't feel like looking for it earlier (the food won out, ha ha), we kind of put it on the back burner while we enjoyed our day with lunch (except for the pizza), dessert and even more dessert! Kirbie went back home while I drove down the street to see if I could find this festival, which I did. It was near these Gun Platforms...

which used to be on an old battleship, but are now displayed at the park...

COPAO Philippine Faire

This past weekend we went down South to check out the Philippine Faire...

which was held at the corner of Saturn and Coronado at Egger Park. Many of the district's students were there to perform their spin of native Philippine festival dances...

Merienda at the Parol Festival

Yesterday was the PASACAT Parol Festival which was held at the Jacobs Center at Market Street Plaza. It's just down the road from Asia Cafe (which is on 47th and Market). The Parol is a star lantern which symbolizes the star of Bethlehem, which led the Three Wise Men to the baby JC.

There were a variety of parols on display, some made with plastic table cloth covers, tissue paper or made of the thin delicate capiz shell...
