This post will concentrate on meals enjoyed from May to June...

Coronado Sunset+ dinner at Meijo

We'd been experiencing a heatwave this past week with clear skies...

that we thought we'd try to catch the sunset across the bay.

Coronado + Late date night dinner @ Tartine

We dropped off TC at the beach to meet up with her team mates...

They would be having a bonfire and TC really wanted to be there for "team bonding".

So off we went across one of San Diego's most iconic symbols, the Coronado Bridge which spans the bay and boasts spectacular views of downtown San Diego.  Incidentally the Coronado Bridge is also the same age as yours truly...

Seafood Friday #3 - The Fish Company

as seen while heading west on the 905...We were dropping off TC for a youth group function and were off to dinner. Last week we tried the new Crisp Fish and Chips for our Lenten Friday meal. Tonight, we chose a place in Coronado...

Nado Gelato Cafe

Rather than going to Tartine (which we've visited twice), we decided on a gelato place in Coronado...

Zarco Cocina de Baja + return to Tartine

[Update - This place is now CLOSED. It didn't even last that long. As of 8/9/15, it is now known as 277 Cocina Artesanal]

A few Fridays ago,, Bert and I went to check out the fairly new Zarco Cocina de Baja in the heart of downtown Chula Vista.

Zarco is the latest incarnation of the former Indulge restaurant, which was also headed by Chef Flor Franco...

Gone were the swirled black and white awning which were replaced by the bold oxblood red of the new Zarco...

Farewell to the Wullenwebber Antenna Array (aka "that circle thing") on the Strand...

Known to many South Bay locals as "the elephant cage" (or in my case, the rather unpoetic "that circle thing"), the metal circular structure seen at the southern end of Silver Strand state beach is set to be torn down...

As a child, I was always fascinated by this structure which we would invariably pass during trips to the beach or to Coronado....

Tartine

Last night Bert and I had another impromptu date night. TC had an overnight function with her youth group, so we went out to dinner (post is forthcoming) nearby. For dessert however, we went up to Coronado Island...

The place was going to close within 45 minutes but there was still enough time to enjoy some coffee and desserts...

In keeping with tradition...Bert chose BBQ for his Father's Day meal...

This time in Coronado instead of National City...

Last weekend we did a quick trip to Coronado to take our holiday photo...

On the way there, we passed by Star Dust, the operative words being "passed by" since it was Sunday and the infamous donut shop was closed...

We were bound for the strand to try to get a few family shots for our Christmas card...

Return to Lil' Piggy's

Last weekend we took advantage of the beautiful weather by heading out to Coronado Island...

It was time to utilize my coupon book so we could have lunch here at Lil' Piggy's Bar-B-Q!
