It's in my old 'hood down south...

Valerio's Bakery closed several years ago when the owner passed away. It is now a pizza place. The Filipino takeout place, Zambales is also gone and replaced by Botanas Locas. Next to it was a "Bakery" sign so I was hopeful...
I was with my dad running some errands and was excited to see the full signage, "Sweet Revenge Bakery". Now THAT is a great name for a bakery. It wasn't open yet. A quick check online showed that it would open at 12 noon and it was only 11 am.

I met my sister for lunch that day and afterwards convinced her to come back here with me to check it out. I was glad we did. We met the owner, Mariella, a very sweet young lady who is also the head baker. Her shop is small but very cute. It is currently decorated with a Halloween and Day of the Dead theme.

The menu board doesn't include all that she offers. Everything in the display case looked quite nice.

The contributors to my weight gain (ohh sheeyit):

"Magic 7-Layer" bar - This was actually my sisters. This was a different way of seeing this type of bar as the kind we make are thicker and smaller. Mariella's version was larger but flatter. It was so good but in small doses since it was pretty sweet all around.

My desserts encased in plastic and as you can see, they all actually fit. But because they fit in here, tops were smashed, sad face.

Tres leches cake parfait with whipped cream and topped with caramel. Bert and TC really liked this dessert. It was too soft for me.

Nutella Brownie - Chocolate cake topped with cream cheese Nutella frosting and a triple chocolate brownie drizzled with Nutella. The cupcake was NOT dry, thank goodness. The frosting was so good as well as the brownie on top. Points for all three components.

Assorted macarons (lemon, chocolate, raspberry, mocha, pistachio, salted caramel)

Mini pumpkin pie:

This was bought for Bert and TC since they like pumpkin more than me. If this was eaten on the same day, the crust probably would have been more crisp, said Bert. I would have to try a different version of this in the near future.

I'm so glad my sister and I stopped in here. Mariella was very gracious and friendly and happy that we came in. I saw some of her other customized cake offerings online and will definitely consider her bakery for upcoming special occasions. I hope she finds success over the years and am glad that my old neighborhood has a new bakery.
