The city was still covered with morning fog...
which to burn off a few hours later. The city was hidden in the distance.
You can kind of make out the San Francisco skyline...
At the bottom of the hill was a toppled tree (more info linked at the end), known as the "dead tree" and seen in numerous Instagram photos.
In the distance, Twin Peaks and on the left peak is the fog shrouded Sutro Tower, a three pronged TV and radio tower. I have a clearer picture of it at the end of the post.
As mentioned in a previous post, Mt. Davidson is the highest natural point in the city, rising at 928 feet. It is also near the geographical center of the city and commands great views from all angles.

That hill sure looks steep from this angle.
TC wanted us to take a photo of her on THE branch that everyone takes a picture on. If you angle your camera just so, it looks like you are floating on a branch above the city.
I was so nervous when she was sliding to get to the middle of the branch. The ground was definitely underneath her but the actual photo looks like she is suspended.
This shot was taken from the center of where the roots were upended.
The tree was pretty sturdy even in this state. It would take a lot to move this thing.
It was nice being here this early...only a few other folks were out that same morning.
The sun was beginning to break through. This is the view from the top of the hill.
Heading back down the forest trail...
and into the neighborhood. We went down another path than the one we went up.
These were such beautiful flowers spied in someone's yard.
This sign amused me.
The sky was now clearing up and we could see more of the distinct red Sutro Tower.
It kind of looks like an alien robot from afar.

In a previous post, I briefly mentioned that there was a faction of conservationists who wanted Mt. Davidson's forest entirely stripped. The main reason for this is because they feel that the trees are not native to the area and thus, only native brush and trees should be there. Below are those articles, along with the toppled tree and the controversial practice of girding (encircling the base of a tree by cutting into the bark to kill it) among the trees in Mt. Davidson. I learned so much more about Mt. Davidson after the fact in researching this post.
