Dinner @ Quinua - Cocina Peruana

When looking at google maps prior to our trip, I noticed a new Peruvian restaurant on the map.

Not wanting to drive out again for dinner, we decided we would have dinner here at Quinua...

It wasn't busy yet but by the time we left, the place was packed.  Our server was a lovely young lady and was very patient and helpful as we made our choices.  The whole staff was very friendly in fact.

Tapestry on the back wall:

Their menu:

Papa a la Huancaina - This was basically boiled potatoes covered with a slightly spicy cheese sauce which originates from the Huancayo region in Peru. This was okay but a little on the bland side. The sauce wasn't as spicy as we thought it would be either.

Ceviche Mixto - Flavors were nice and bright. The seafood mix was fish, squid rings and shrimp. Canchitas were served with this as well (crunchy corn kernels) which provided some texture.

Tallarin verde with chicken - Noodles were green from the spinach. The chicken was nice and tender. The portions here were on the small side and the prices were steepr than what I was used to seeing at Latin Chef or Nazca in San Diego.

Empanada - This was quite delicious with a shredded chicken with yellow chili pepper sauce and hard boiled eggs. The crust and crimped edges were so nice and flaky too.

Dinner was nice, sharing everything between us three. Our server kept checking on us and wanting to know if we were enjoying the food.

I'm glad we stopped by here. The food was good and the location was quite convenient since it was so close to where we were staying.
