This is how it looked last weekend (a week after July 4th)...
Gone are the paintings of cartoon characters and sea life. The walls are painted soft pastels mixed with some glitter. Everytime we would see the shop, there always seemed to be something new on it. Perhaps they will start fresh with new paintings. The owner said that a group of artistic kids usually paints his walls.

On the south side of the shell shop, around the corner from the "IB Shark" mural is a new mural. I'm not exactly sure when it went up but it seems to be pretty recent (I'll have to check on IG, I'm sure I can find out who the artist is). TC was very excited to see this mural. There are characters on it from Cartoon Network's "Adventure Time" and "The Regular Show" plus "Ponyo" (from the Studio Ghible movie of the same name; Ponyo is a fish-girl who wants to be human).

The apartments behind it are new as well. There is a lot of new development happening in Imperial Beach nowadays. I'm not much of an "Adventure Time" fan, but their characters are interesting like Jake the Dog and Marceline the Vampire Queen, and the Ice King

The right side of the mural features all of "The Regular Show" characters - Mordecai, Rigby, Musce Man, High Five Ghost, Skips (the Yeti, voiced by Mark Hammil of all people!), Pops, and Benson (the bubble gum dispenser).

Ponyo is the character right over the word "character"! That was actually a very cute movie.
Whoever did this mural did a great job! I liked how he/she kept it black and white too.

"Ponyo":
Here's a cool article from 2014 written by IB Mayor, Serge Dedina. It depicts the murals that USED to be on Bibbey's shell shop

and some photos from the Art Kids site showing portions of the previous murals.
Previous visit to Bibbey's Shell Shop:
October 2013 where you can see the previous murals (complete with Godzilla, the Penguins of Madagascar and Spongebob and Patrick.
I wonder if the shell shop's walls will be freshened with new artwork. In any case, it gives those Art Kids a blank palette in which to unleash their creativity.
