I saw a place that looked promising but it was in nearby Goleta...
Kyle's Kitchen is named after a young boy named Kyle who has special needs. His parents owns the restaurant and sometime he is there greeting guests. The menu reflects his favorite foods (burgers, salads and milkshakes) and a portion of their month earnings goes to a different charity monthly.
It is very relaxed and casual here. You wait in line to order your food and it is brought to you. There are booths and also bar height tables as well as outside seating, although they were putting away their patio chairs by the time we arrived (even though they were still open).

Our dinner...
Bert's Cheesy Pig with Chicken Tortilla soup. This was a beef burger despite the moniker "Cheesy Pig". I kind of liked his more than my own sandwich. The patty was grilled perfectly with a nice pink center.

Everything was delicious. I felt better eating something green with that salad; it had a little bit of everything. We especially enjoyed the generous slices of avocado. Bert and I traded bites of our respective burger/sandwich. We were pretty satisfied with out meal here as well as the super nice service. We also felt good knowing that the money went to a good cause.
Next door was a small Japanese market. TC was excited when she saw the "My Neighbor Totoro" toys and the snacks. We ended up visiting the store a few days later.
I thought we could try to catch the sunset at this cliff at the Douglas Family Preserve. It overlooks Hendry's Beach (which we would also visit the day before we left). We didn't realize it would take a while to get through the windy roads so by the time we actually got to the neighborhood where the preserve is located, the sun had pretty much set already.
There was a group of people taking group photos by the edge of the cliff. We kept out distance but were kind of bummed that they took a long time because they had a better view from where they were standing.
It would have been nice to see the sun actually set but we still saw the beautiful sky as it turned orange and red...
