King of Thai Cuisine + donut trio @ Donut Panic

The other week TC and I went out with MFH...

and wanted to try this new Thai place in Grantville...

It's right next to Donut Panic and the Purple Mint. For the longest time, it was closed and finally opened up.  I think it may have been a Chinese place in the past.  Anyhow, it is small inside but decorated nicely.

TC's Thai tea with boba and our pretty blue water glasses. We were all served the same sour vegetable soup for our lunch entrees.

Spring roll appetizer, served upright and with peanut/hoisin sauce.

MFH's yellow curry. The salad came with the peanut dressing already on it. The fried stuff was a mini roll and a cream cheese won ton with sweet and sour sauce.

TC's Pad thai with tofu.

Lastly, my Thai bbq chicken, which was not a lunch special. I also asked for sticky rice to substitute for the brown rice. I didn't realize it would cost almost $3.50 more, especially when the lady told it was only $2 extra. Hmmmm. Not.  This was the first time I'd seen sticky rice in foil. Normally it's in those mini woven steamer baskets or wrapped in plastic.  It took a good 15 minutes for my food to come out.  The portion (thighs I believe) was pretty big and meaty. The flavor was also nice. Both sauces were pretty hot (red chili and hot green chili with tamarind).

I'd go here again with Bert so we can try other items on their menu. Service was for the most part pretty efficient. My dish took longer than the regular lunch special entrees but it was worth the wait. It was so much food too that it ended up being two more meals worth of food later that week.

We went to Donut Panic next door so MFH could try their vegan donuts.

The Vortex Coffee Cart was gone. According to Mr. Damo (Linda's father and co-owner of the shop), it didn't last because cart employees weren't there on a daily basis. The owner also didn't really have a vested interest since they weren't paying rent (unlike the donut shop). It was more of a "side project" that didn't last.  Where the coffee cart once was, is now a refrigerated case.

Our donut trio:

Earl Grey, Rosewater Cardamom and Thai tea:

Nice and light!

It's nice to have another food option in this strip mall.

Your grilled chicken dish looked amazing. I love how they used thighs. I'd be curious about their hot green chili with tamarind sauce. I've been meaning to try out Supannee but King of Thai might be next on the list because of the chicken!

Hi Faye, that green chili tamarind sauce was pretty spicy for me. You might be able to handle it better. I still highly recommend Supannee though.
