Return to Quenelle + salad from Trader Joe's

One thing I forgot to mention in my previous post was that my left sandal broke right after we finished our burgers at Shake Shack.

As seen earlier that same day at the Micheltorena Stairs...

Of course  it would be my dumb luck that the thong part between my toes would break...

I couldn't walk with the shoe because it was completely $%#@'d. I had to ask Bert to lend me his sock so I could walk to the nearest shoe store and buy a new pair of sandals. Ironically, while I was cursing inwardly about the crass commercialism of this whole general area, it worked to my advantage because lo and behold, a block and a half away was DSW where I found a pair of comfortable flat sandals (Sanuk's, made from yoga mats). I had to walk carrying my shoe and wearing a mens sock on my left foot. I didn't care anymore and to be honest, no one seemed to stare (at least noticeably) or care either, so that was a relief.

Later during the late afternoon, we noticed smoke in the sky. It turns out there was a fire that very day and those were the remnants of the fire.

Dessert would be a Quenelle in Burbank (previous post listed at the end). It's a tiny shop with only a few flavors of handmade ice cream.

As you can see the flavor selection is small but with some interesting flavors.

The girl behind the counter offered us a few samples as well.

We opted to get a triple scoop and just have it in one cup instead of each getting our own (slightly less expensive that way).

Persimmon, lychee and blueberry pie.

All flavors were excellent and distinct. I actually chose the persimmon, surprising my husband. TC didn't like it as much and said it tasted "grainy". She preferred lychee, her choice, much better.

Nearby, the Nickelodeon Studios.

Before going to our hotel, we stopped by Trader Joe's to get this salad.  We had some of it way later that evening for dinner.  Just something small and healthy to make up for all the crap we ate earlier.

Fresh and Easy used to make a similar salad which also included corn. Gosh, I do miss Fresh and Easy. The one that closed near us is still vacant, sadly.

Previous visit to Quenelle:
May 2016 (posted, but the actual visit was Summer of 2014 because I was a major procrastinator)
