we headed over to Chinatown...

and passed through Hi-Fi..
also known as Historic Filipinotown (Hi-Fi). The area encompasses the southwestern portion of Echo Park.

On Alvarado Street, you will find this McDonalds with the old school arches.

Somewhere along Alvardo was this mural at an elementary school...

as well as curiously painted over street art on the side of an apartment building.

I noticed the wording on the building...

We passed by The Park's Finest on W. Temple Street, one of the main drags in Hi-Fi. We had the opportunity to dine there last year during a mini road trip to LA.

The minimalist VoG was on the side of La Fruteria, a Mexican juice place, that sadly has only 5 photos on that four lettered site and NO reviews at all! What gives!

As we approached Chinatown, we noticed the "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" banner starring Darren Criss, that actor from "Glee" (a show I've never watched); his character's name was "Blaine Anderson". For the record, Darren Criss is half Filipino, believe it or not.

Yes....Blaine!
One of my favorite lines from "Pretty in Pink".
You tell it, Ducky!!! Blaine was a total PU$$Y!!!
Or if you've ever watched the "In Loving Color" comedy sketch show from the 90's, you will also remember Blaine Edwards played by Damon Wayans from "Men on Film" skits:
So totally UN-PC now but FUNNY!
While looking for the parking lot we passed by our giant fiberglass chicken friend at Superior Poultry.

Another chicken, the non-3-D version is at Peking Poultry.

One of the many shopping plazas in Chinatown...

A small shop down the street was selling this, a mere few days after the election.

Up next...return to the Velveteria
