It actually used to be a totally different mural (story linked at the end) from 2006 up to 2012...
but it was vandalized and repainted the mural the following year. This past weekend, Bert and I had some time to kill so we stopped by to snap some photos before going to La Concha, one of my favorite panaderias which is just down the street. As I took this photo from the street, it looked glorious in the early morning light, with the sun behind me.

The end of the mural remained dark due to the shadows of the neighboring building.

Another angle:

The right half of the mural. As I got closer to the image of the reclining woman, I noticed a familiar signature...

I was delighted (but not surprised) to see that this beautiful mural was painted by local muralist, Daniel Hopkins, also known as Maxx Moses.

I had to lighten the photo so that the detail in the waves of hair could be seen.

I'm so glad that we stopped to see this mural up close. I remember seeing the old version of this mural and some fools defaced it. It was painted over for awhile and I recall feeling a bit sad that the wall had been vandalized. The artwork before was quite striking. It's been replaced and it's cool that the previous and new artwork is by an artist whose work I admire.
