I was already on 25th, so I hung a right on 28th and as I approached B St, I made an illegal u-turn when I saw THIS...
Yes, I have been known to do that, or at least as Bert to turn around and park so I could get in some good photos of murals we find around town. This happened to be on the wall of Golden Hill Liquor. I felt like a dumbass because when I made the u-turn and drove into the parking lot, it had a construction sign blocking the driveway (I managed to squeeze through) PLUS it was a one way entrance and I of course, was going the wrong way.

There were no cars there at least so I quickly made a 10 point turn so I could leave more easily after I did my guerrilla photo shoot.

The colors were so vibrant. I loved seeing the multicultural and multigenerational faces...

See the tents? There was some sort of farmer's market going on. That street was blocked.

Details:

It turns out that this particular mural was done by well known San Diego artists, Mario "Torero" Acevedo. This mural was recently restored four years ago; it was original painted by Mario and a group of youth from Logan Heights in 1978.
Other works by Mario Acevedo that I didn't realize were by him until I read the article linked at the end of this post
Einstein Academy is one. For the life of me, I can't believe I don't have a photo of it. It is very remisicent of the style of Keith Haring. The article at the end does feature a photo so make sure to check it out
When I took this photo of the Sherman Heights mural on Market Street last year, it was one of those quick stops. TC and I were out and about and we were looking for a sadly now defunct, coffee shop.

Fb page but hasn't been updated since 2012. There is a short post dated Jan 12, 2012 about having the mural restored) + reviews (of the store itself) on you know where (out of the measly 4 photos posted, there is one photo featuring the mural with a rainbow in the sky!)
