Right when I thought we were going to leave, C had her husband stop the minivan and park so we could check out this Canadian supermarket, President's Choice...
On a random note, I remember watching the movie, "This Means War" on the plane (with Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon and the dude that played "Bane" in "The Dark Knight Rises", Tom Hardy). For the record, it's a pretty lame movie. But the point it even being mentioned is that Reese Witherspoon's best friend in the movie, played by late night talk show host Chelsea Handler shows her eating a bag of chips. The brand? President's Choice. The movie was supposed to be set in Los Angeles but a closer look at imdb confirms that the movie was also filmed in Canada (British Columbia's, Steveston, Burnaby and Vancouver) where President's Choice products are sold.
The name of this newspaper was amusing to me. Nipissing is also the name of a town in this area. There is a Nipissing University as well.

We'd had President's Choice chips before during our previous trip to Canada (Toronto in 2010). In fact, we snacked on them on the way to Niagara Falls. We were amazed by the "World of Flavours" potato chip choices they offered at PC. Here are just a few of them. Why can't our chips be this awesome?

I gave my bro the Peppercorn Steak chips which he really liked...

You name the culture, they had the flavor! TC liked the bbq baby back ribs (we had that back in 2010 as well)...

The Greek flavored chips weren't appealing to me but man, that Canadian burger was so good! It really had that "meat" taste to it! Oh yeah, and loads of MSG.

All Dressed and Ketchup are two very popular flavors in Canada that you won't find in the states.

These chips were thick cut and ridged. Very sturdy. I picked up about four or fivebags to give as gifts.
More interesting flavors - these were sauce jars.

This was a Canadian marinade brand...

They call their Otter Pops "freezies".

Mmm, soda flavor too.
President's Choice in the Northgate Mall parking lot. No address. Couldn't find it. My internet skills suck tonight.
We had about four more hours of driving. One thing I forgot to mention was that the suitcase with the snacks and food that I bought barely fit into the minivan! Oops, didn't think of that!!! FJ and Bert had to rearrange our stuff in the trunk and C and I ended up having some of our other packages by our feet!

President's Choice products are sold at the Fred Meyer stores in Oregon. No idea it was Canadian! I'll have to check the chips aisle next time I'm home and see if any of those flavors made it over the border.
hi wc - thanks, i wasn't aware PC products were available in the US. good to know if we ever go to Portland again. hopefully you can try their flavored chips. :)
