Our friend lives in Scripps Ranch, a neighborhood I hadn't been to in years. As we were driving along, TC noticed a donut shop across from this strip mall...
She thought the name was funny, Donut Touch. This must be the"other" location of Donut Touch; the first being Mira Mesa in the shopping center that has the Sorrento Food Court.

The donut place is next to a gas station, car wash, and car repair business and the parking lot is tight and cramped with only one way in and out. I was able to snag a green ten minute spot. I remember one of Mary's posts mentioning this place had a red velvet donut...and yes they do (can you see it below the cruller?).

I got the last plain red velvet donut (sacrilege, I know but the cream cheese frosting would just melt if I left this in the car during our brunch) and just one blueberry donut.

I wished this had been glazed or something because this was a bit too plain.

I couldn't resist getting one of these...

That photo shoot was in the comfort of my, uh....car.

At home, these were enjoyed in a more genteel manner, hah ha.

I thought the donuts would look classier on our wedding china, heh heh.
Obviously the photo was taken when our Christmas tree and decor was still up. We finally took it all down last weekend. Bert, TC and I have the breakdown process streamlined to a T, finishing up in about two hours. The trick is to not have a lot of crap out! Less stuff out, the less you have to put away.

The red velvet donut was cakey and not too sweet. Glazed would have been better if they had offered it (and they do, according to their website). The blueberry donut was just okay. In fact, it would totally pale in comparison to the donut we would have a few days later at another donut place up north (post is forthcoming).

AH- you went to the 'other' DonutTouch...which I had not noticed in my drivings on Scripps Summit (I've only seen the one on Mira Mesa, closer to the 805). Both donuts look good.
This Donut Touch is a pain because of the uber small parking area. I have totally parked it at a gas pump just to get donuts though. It's not like you're going to take that long! The other DT in Mira Mesa does not have the red velvets, but they do have the bacon maple bars and their cruellers are pretty good (though still not as good as Mary's). I have seen on their website the "donut cake" and I wish someone would get it for me for my birthday hahah (you can see it here: http://www.donuttouch.com/scripps-specialties/).
Cathy - yes, this is the other one. The red velvet was a bit too plain without any glaze or frosting.
Mary - You got that right, a big PITA!!!!!!!!!! That parking lot sux! I did see that they had crullers but I am loyal to Mary's Donuts' version.
