(Somewhere in western Ontario)
I resolve to tie up any loose end and finish those posts this year, haha.
We'd been on quite the journey, traveling out from Ottawa that very morning and then making a few pit stops along the way. This was another one of those much needed breaks before heading back to the Island...
But first a glimps at the Dionne Quintuplet house below:

I'm just going to retype what I posted on my "Highlights" post a year and a half ago (because I'm lazy like that):
"I was dozing on and off during the trip when I was awakened by C who exclaimed, "Hey, wake up! You need to take a photo of this! (points to the house)"
This was the original house of the Dionne quintuplets, who were born in 1934 but were taken away from their parents by the Canadian government to be exhibited as a "tourist attraction" (wow, how unethical by today's standards). The house is now a museum. This town was not the original town of their birth. A quick search on wikipedia showed that the original abode was moved serveral times before being placed here. Multiple births were an extreme rarity back then especiall when all five of the girls survived. Compare that to nowadas with all of these stars having twins (JLo, Brangelina, Julia Roberts, etc), I'm sure with the "help" of fertility drugs.
Alas, we were at a stoplight and didn't have time to stop in and it didn't look open either, so on we went!
*The Dionne Quintuplet Museum is located in the city of North Bay, on Highway 11 and the Trans Canada Highway.
Just passing by...Country Style, a Canadian donut and coffee chain. We'd only been going to Tim Hortons during our trip.

This was our last stop before getting back to the Island, the Northgate Mall in North Bay. We didn't actually go to the enclosed part of the mall. Instead we went to Walmart!

That's right...to get some last minute snack and gift items for our family and friends (and ourselves).

C insisted that we stop by here and I wasn't going to argue with her!
I ended up buying an extra suitcase here to pack all of the candies, snacks, and chips. See the Coffee Crips? Got 'em! Aero balls? Got those too.

I also got some Coffee Crisp bites (in addition to the bars) and the Kit Kat bites. I ended up giving many of the candies away to foodblogger friends.

I also picked up a can of wanna be Spam, called KAM. We ate it several months later and let me tell you, SPAM it is NOT. It was reddish in color, very artificial tasting and super salty. Not so great. Makes the real SPAM taste like filet mignon.

I liked seeing the labels in French too...

I bought quite a few of these mini tuna cans to give as gits as well. They were pretty cheap and had some neat flavors.

I saw that they had HP sauce (which I didn't get)...taste great with Scotch eggs!

C also insisted that I get these Pepperettes. I got that brand and another one by Piller's. They didn't need refrigeration. These were the best tasting meat sticks ever. She said they were a popular snack when she was young.

There's more food gifts that I bought but again, much of it was given to friends and family. We got one last snack at the inhouse McD's before leaving...

Seems like "wraps" were the in thing here. This was some chicken wrap with chipotle sauce (which wasn't even spicy by the way). Eh.

We were all so very tired but excited to be heading back to C's parents' place.

Before leaving the mall parking lot entirely, C also said, "OMG, you have to go in there!" while pointing to a neighboring grocery store...so that was our next stop!
