to walk off some our breakfast while checking out some of the shops here...
like this one, this comic chop, Villanous Lair.

Bert wanted to see if they had the trade paperbook of "The Secret Wars", a 12 issue compilation of a story done in the 80's.

Unfortunately, they didn't have it since it was long out of print.
I thought their window display was amusing...

There wasn't much else Bert was looking for so we moved right along on Adams...

passing by this clever utility box painted and remodeled to look like a Craftsman toolbox. This was, appropriately located in front of Smitty's auto repair shop.

A few steps more and we were at the corner of Adams and 33rd where our favorite old school bookstore is, Adams Ave Book Store.

As with our previous visits (too many to count and unblogged), the bookstore cats out and about. While I was looking at cookbooks on another floor, TC was in a different room reading a book while this rather friendly cat came in, headbutted her legs and jumped on to her lap.

She happened to have Bert's phone on her so she took some snaps of her new feline friend...

Quite docile

This is just one of the book store cats...

Here was the other one, Bart the orange tabby(Bart is short for Bartleby)...sunning himself in a small alcove near the front picture window. The last time TC and I were here, he was comfortably plopped in the middle of a flight of steps and didn't bother moving when people were walking up and down. It had an attitude of, "Eh...walk around me, will ya!", haha!

Although we didn't purchase anything that day, we still had a fab time browsing around in there.

So long Bart and Felixia! Our day after Christmas was pretty non-commercial. We didn't go to the mall and try to seek out half off deals, but were able to have a very hearty breakfast. We'll have to try our luck at Lucky's next time (and save some $$$)!
Previous visit to Villainous Lair:
July 17 where I bought these wannabe Marvel themed Pez called Klik-its for Bert
My first post (but not my first visit) to Adams Ave Bookstore:
October 2010 - after their remodel from earlier that Spring
The cats even have their own page on the book store website!
We had a pretty long morning but before heading home, stopped by one more spot for some coffee...
