April came and went by so quickly...I was surprised to find that there is a song about May 1st:
Wow, so THAT'S what Barry Gibb looks like without his beard and leonine hair! It was wierd seeing the Bee Gees wearing tweed instead of white leisure suits unbuttoned all the way down to their belly button and adorned by gold medallions....
There was another song about the fifth month as well...
starring the chick who played Mary Poppins and was in "The Sound of Music"....
I am SO NOT into musicals!
When I hear the word "May" (as in the month), I always think of these things:
May Pole
May Queen (referenced in Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven")
May Day
Maytag
May Pang (John Lennon's lover when he separated from Yoko in the 70's)
and May-December romance
But the one song that always reminds me of May is this, "The Fountain in the Park", as sung by Elmer Fudd (featuring Bugs Bunny with a different voice):
"I was strolling through the park one day....in the merry merry month of May....."
Classic!
Lastly, I have to include one of the greatest guitarists ever, Brian May of Queen!
This gig couldn't have been any better - playing "God Save the Queen" on top of Buckingham Palace for the damn Jubilee!!!
Upcoming posts: the sights and sounds from my Record Store Day crawl (which of course included food stops)...
