Cow Records - Pacific Beach

Right after Thrift Trader, we walked the few steps over to Cow Records next door.

This is the other location of Cow, which has another store in OB on Newport Ave. I'd always been curious about this place so it was only right that we visit Cow during our Record Store Day Crawl...

Although it's small inside, it was well organized and packed with LP records (both rare, used, and new) and DVD's.

I liked the colored hanging vinyl. Very cool.

I spy one of my favorite U2 albums, "War" featuring the young boy, Peter, who is now in his late 30's!

It was a pretty eclectic mix here...my mom LOVES Johnny Mathis!

Certain LP's were labeled with the "Record Store Day" logo, which meant those particular records were released specifically for that day. Not all record stores carried all of the Record Store Day releases. I'm sure many folks staked out certain record stores in the hopes of getting certain releases. That's probably why M-Theory was so packed earlier.

Now this is a group I have only heard of, but can't name any of their songs. I actually took this photo because I was attracted to the orange vinyl 45.

Aw yeah, my hero, Joan Jett with a David Bowie cd in front...I've always admired her sense of style and her tough, no nonsense approach to rock and roll. She can wipe the floor with a lot of these so-called musicians nowadays.

THE one purchase that I made at Cow was a Joe Satriani DVD. It was half off, so it only cost $4 something. Yeah for that man. The Satch is one of my favorite guitar heroes. I had the privilege of seeing him in concert for his "Surfing with the Alien Tour" in 1988 (SDSU Open Air Ampitheatre) as well as his "Flying in a Blue Dream" Tour in 1989 at the now defunct California Theatre downtown. They recorded a few songs  ("Ice Nine", "Hordes of Locusts", and "Memories") from the live show from the "Alien" tour which showed up on his EP (also released in 1988),"Dreaming #11",

Here's some "Hordes of Locusts" for ya:

Damn, he was so awesome (and still is) in the 80's! I really liked his instrumental music much better than his later albums when he "sang". He later joined forces with two other kickass guitarists, Eric Johnson and Steve Vai and toured as "G3", the best lineup of guitarists EVER (excluding Eddie Van Halen and the late Randy Rhoads)!

They do not have a website.

Our last stop would be next door for a tiny bit of dessert to end our day!
