Random photos here and there

This is another post with one off photos. The kind where I only take a few and it's not really enough for a full post. Either that or I've forgotten about them until now.

Every weekend there's always a different group selling food after mass. Sometimes there's donuts or Mexican pan dulces. This time, it was Filipino food. I like the backwards dollar sign there!

With the weather getting warmer, that means it's time to wear open toes shoes again...

Although these are cool (I am a sucker for studded or spiked things), I didn't quite like the "thong" effect for the toes. My foot felt too "bare".

This wedge was also quite awesome, but they fit kind of wierd on me. The 8.5's were too tight and the 9's were too long and made my feet slide around. Not really a good thing when wearing 5" wedges. Unfortunately, I had to pass, despite the graphic print wedge (which is what attracted me in the first place). Plus, it was kind of expensive too. Boo.

Another shoe that caught my eye was this, this simple mini circle studded flat. It was cute, but again, nearly $60. If it was $20, maybe, but not $60. And no, this is not an open toed shoe, but I still like it. I've beent trying to wear more comfortable, but not orthopedic looking shoes. I actually bought some Aerosole wedges (not shown and my first time buying Aerosoles too) and they were super comfortable!

Saw this at the Costco in Rancho del Rey (Chula Vista, east). I didn't get it, but maybe in the future, I might try it.

I know a posted a photo of this guy for my last random post. Well, these are a few of my older shots of the "Blue Light Special" dude. He is usually seen on H Street, at the entrance that leads to K-Mart and Fresh & Easy.

Whoever this guy is, he deserves a medal for always being so animated and cheerful. This guy dances around, waves to passing cars and makings motions encouraging people to honk (and yes, I have!).

My Union Jack men's belt.

A pair of Tokidoki earrings (bought 5 years ago) featuring Bastardino the cactus pup and Sandy the Cactus. I like that this is not a matching pair. I last wore it on St. Patrick's Day!

I don't remember what store this was, but TC showed this to me and I cracked up. I love me some Johnny Depp but not enough to wear a shirt with his face on it, although that's one of my favorite movies!

This was really cool - the "welcome" sign at the Bonita Sunnyside Library. They even have "Mabuhay" in there!

Work on the 805 down south has been going on for nearly a year now.

When I went to get the bolillos from La Concha a few days ago, I noticed this...

A booth selling tacos in front of the King's Korner Liquor Store, but no one was there though.

A recent party that Bert and I attended was held here. We never even knew this park existed. That bridge is the 54 freeway.

View from the edge of the park. In the middle where you see the trees? Horse ranches.

Another view of the mountains (which isn't really a mountain but I call it that anyways).

A sunny side up egg made by TC. She was pretty happy about this and even sprinkled furikake on top!

A pair of fierce peeptoe platforms (bought four years ago). You can probably guess why I liked these shoes.

Some candy given to all the staff during testing week. TC really liked these since they "changed" flavor.

I wish there was at least another flavor in there. There's two (but really four). I guess I was expecting at least three different flavors, like regular Starburst.  Still, very Willy Wonka-ish.

All right. I bought this at the Dollar Store on Imperial Ave. I like the regular chicken spread but never tried the Buffalo Style.

Bert and I tried some with crackers and cheese.

Ugh, it looked kind of gross to me. Glistening with oil. The smell was also a bit strong. Very vinegary, from the hot sauce.

I had one cracker with the spread. I couldn't bring myself to have another. The spread itself has a bit of a kick, but it was more of the vinegary tang that put me off. It tasted almost too sour and kind of metallic. The can is still in our fridge. Maybe Bert will finish it (maybe).

We saw this cool car over in Bonita.

Back to church! Donuts from the local Boy Scout troop.

Even though they were technically "free", it's that Catholic guilt (plus the jar for cold hard cash that's out) that makes you "donate" to the organization. No one wants to look like a cheap ass and stiff the Girl or Boy Scouts or the Rosary organization! You may be struck by bolts of lightning! Send in the Nuns!

A sign we saw on the corner of Bonita Road and Central.

I love this time of year. Memorial Day has come and gone. It's the official start of summer.  Vacation is around the corner. And in our front yard, the flowers are blooming! We have three kinds of day lilies. We have yellow, red, and a combo of yello and red. They are mixed with purple lantanas.

We also have some geraniums and some interesting purple flower that we know we didn't plant ourselves. Perhaps they spread from seeds in bird poo or something. In any case, they look nice mixed in with our geraniums.

Bert is also finishing up fixing my raised vegetable beds. They've not grown anything lately and I'm looking forward to growing some eggplants, herbs, and hopefully tomatoes.

May is almost over!

TC says, "Thanks!" : )

I'm glad she can kind of cook a few things (for now).
