Our two little chocolates weren't going to be enough for us, so a short walk across the street was in order...
I'm not that much of a bread fan. The "rustic" types with the hard and chewy loaves are not my thing. I like softer loaves and stuff that won't cut the roof of my mouth. I wasn't here for bread though...

Inside it was quite spacious. You can peruse their items in the glass cases, make your selections and pay at the counter.

I was curious about this, the chocolate bread rolls. Just our luck, it was a weekend, the only time these are available, and only .85 too!

I got a peanut butter toffee cookie for Bert. These were all going for about $1.85 (a dime more than last year, judging from Mary's post, linked at the end). I'll have to try that short bread next time too.

OMG, everything looked so good. When I saw the pearl sugar brioche, I knew I had to have one of those. I bought some Belgian pearl sugar online last year in an attempt to make choquettes (which I loved in Portland from St. Honore Boulangerie). My effort failed and I haven't made choquettes since, but I still have a stash of that pearl sugar. I was excited to see it as a topping on this brioche.

There is a reddish tinge to these next photos since we were sitting underneath a red umbrella! This was Bert's cookie which he really liked later that day. It was nice and thick with lots of crunchy and buttery toffee pieces within. This was a quality cookie.

Kirbie's Chocolate Brioche Twist - this also looked quite good. I was tempted to get one myself, but wasn't sure how it would hold up in the car as I had a few other errands to run that afternoon.

Once again, the pearl sugar brioche...

I liked the shape of this. It reminded me of a chef's hat. Brioche has a high butter and egg content, making it taste less like bread, and almost like a pastry. The crumbs are also soft.

This was the other thing I nibbled on (besides the brioche) that afternoon. I liked that the chocolate bread wasn't too sweet.

It was also the perfect size, not too large. There were also quite a lot of pieces of chocolate inside.

I would get more of these next time we go (which would have to be a weekend!). They also serve sandwiches here which might be something else to try as well.

Surprisingly, they do not have a website!
I forgot to mention in my earlier posts that Kirbie and I originally intended to check out the Asian Cultural Festival that was going on that same day. We couldn't find it when walking around. The address she found indicated that it was along a big grass area across from where we were parked, however, we didn't see anything there. That was because the Festival was further down that same road, out of our line of sight.
Before heading out, I thought I'd drive by that road to see if there was indeed a Festival going on, and yes....there was! So I reparked in a different, but closer lot and went out for a quick looksee...

I love the Almost Grilled Cheese Sandwich and I don't even like blue cheese that much. The brie mellows it out a bit. And the PB & J is very good too! My favorite cookie there is the dark chocolate chunk. I almost think it's like having a candy bar in my cookie!
hello IHC - thanks for the rec's! i might like that almost grilled cheese sandwich more if they didn't have blue cheese. :) yes, i was eyeing that dark chocolate chunk cookies, but not getting it that time gives me another excuse to go, ha ha.
