which is, I went to a drive through....
TC had a dress rehearsal for a recital and I went to the nearby joint to get her a little something for dinner...
This was at the Imperial Marketplace which has Home Depot, a big 99 cent store as well as a joint KFC and Long

The voices from the drive through speakers always sound like the parents on the Peanuts cartoon..."Wah wah, waaah waaah, wah wah..."!!!

I hate talking to disembodied voices!

Smelled good in the car...

Got her a combo of two mini chicken sandwiches plus one side...

which was mac and cheese. This didn't look so great to me, but she liked it later that evening. Turns out she couldn't even take a dinner break until the rehearsal was done. Poor thing.

One of two mini chicken sliders which came with pickles and some sort of sauce.

The next day, which the day of the big show, there was a potluck for the dancers. One of the parents brought a couple of boxes of Krispy Kremes. This went pretty fast.

Another parent brought garlic bread and Filipino style spaghetti (not shown), the kind with sliced up hot dogs in them. I am not a big fan of that type of spaghetti because the sauce is too sweet. My parents never made their sauce that way so I didn't grow up eating it nor was I accustomed to the overly sweet spaghetti sauce.

Another contribution was two buckets of Chicken Joy (plus gravy!) from Jollibee...This also was gone pretty quickly.

One of the grandma's made pancit bihon; another made crustless chicken salad sandwiches (Filipino style with mayo, condensed milk, pineapple and pimientos). We brought the sliced up watermelon so the kids could have something health.

This was one of two entrees from MJ's Yogurt TIme & Deli (the fusion place that's known for their longanisa and sisig fries!)...This happened to be the Kim Chee fried red rice, topped with eggs and bulgogi meat. I didn't like the kim chee or the runny eggs, but I liked everything else. It tasted like an Asian version of carne asada fries but without the fries. Or cheese.

The other tray looked very similar, but thiswas the Sisig fried red rice. I guess they use the term 'sisig' liberally because the meat didn't really taste like sisig. Yes, it was pork, but it wasn't the fatty pig face parts, but more of the meaty regular pork. So does that really count as sisig? I don't know...But this was also met with curiosity and hesitation by a few of the older folks.

Mmmm, red rice!

Last week, after my lunch meet up with Kirbie (I have yet to post on that lunch), we exchanged a few late birthday gifts. In addition to the insanely cute Tokidoki bag (Americans print, not pictured), she also gave me three boxed pineapple cakes, knowing how much I really liked the ones that Jinxi gave us a few months ago.

TC really liked these boxes and didn't want to throw them away. Gosh, I hope she doesn't become sort sort of hoarder!

Love these bite sized pineapple cakes! They are the perfect snacking size too!

One of the other gifts were two bags of these Herr's brand Heinz Ketchup Fries (which she got from Amazon a few months ago). I was so excited to see these! The chips were ridged and thick cut. They also had a lot of ketchup flavored powder on them, which I liked. The flavor was bold and assertive! Why can't they distribute these on the west coast (this brand is from Pennsylvania I believe)?!

Just recently, I was at the Fashion Valley mall with TC. This little boutique shop had these despicable onesies for babies. I mean, seriously, I would NOT have wanted TC (or any kid for that matter) to wear these! "Born to be Prom King" (the purple one had the "queen" version), "I have way morefacebook friends than you", and the one I hated the most (in yellow, which is hard to read), "Born to be like, totally popular"! What kind of fkg message is that? Especially for girls?

No "Born to be a teacher (or any other type of respectable profession)?" "Born to cure Cure Cancer or HIV?" "Born to be the President", "Born to win a Nobel Peace Prize"?
I guess those are too "boring" for this clothing maker. It's not as bad as this particular t-shirtsJC Penny got in trouble for a few years ago which were targeted to young girls, saying, " "I'm too pretty to do homework so my brother has to do it for me" (WTF!!!!!) Stupid manufacturers and also stupid ass parents who actually buy into that mentality and promote ignorance by purchasing the shirts for their children to wear.

I agree those T-shirt messages are terrible :\ Too many princess-wanna-bes! Haha. Aw man all those food pics just made me hungry, especially those donuts! :)
Thank you and Amen to that! As if parents think it's okay for a girl to get away with being "dumb", as if being smart is not cool, or that you have to look a certain way to get ahead in life. Boo!
I was never a fan of those Disney princesses either!
I have trouble throwing away those boxes too. hehe. Yes, I don't understand why they don't sell the chips here in CA! Maybe one day.
hi kirbie - actually, i ended up throwing them away. even though she said she wanted to keep them, i know she'll forget about them and they will molder away in her bedroom hidden somewhere. :)
