There was construction near the art deco El Primero Hotel on Third (past the Downtown Chula Vista sign). If you want to park for free, you can go to the parking structure near Fuddruckers like we did and just walk across the street....
I don't know about you but when I see the words "Sweet" and "Sister", I think of this:
Yeah! The Cult!
Can Ian Astbury or Billy Duffy serve me some cupcakes or make my sandwich for me?
We ordered sandwiches and a salad to share. We'll have to try one of their crepes next time...

You can also see their menu online here:

See the yellow awnings in the distance? Fuddruckers.

We sat in a little alcove, away from the main area.

This was the Hearts of Romaine salad ($4.99) - Romaine lettuce with cherry tomatoes, walnuts (plain, not candied), dried cranberries and parmesan cheese. I had the balsamic dressing on the side. I wasn't expecting the lettuce head to be "whole". We had to cut it up to eat it. For the record, we all enjoyed the salad.

This was my sandwich, the Grilled Chicken with Red Pepper panini ($5.99) - The menu lists it as having chicken, swiss cheese, red peppers, and a cilantro pesto. The cheese was a bit sparse and so was the red pepper. I was expecting more red pepper, like actual strips of roasted red pepper or something.
Actually I thought I was given the wrong order because this sandwich had avocado in it. The ciabbata bread was nice and "spongy" with a soft crust on top. It wasn't grilled and pressed like a panini ought to be. In this case, they should just call their sandwiches "sandwiches" instead of paninis. I liked the portion. It wasn't too big and I felt it was just right for a light lunch. Despite the sandwich not being what I thought it would be, I still thought it was delicious.

I ordered a sandwich to go for Bert. I specifically asked for it to be made later towards the end of our lunch. Instead, the young boy working there brought it out immediately in the takeout box. Maybe he misunderstood me? In this case, Bert will have a nice soggy sandwich for dinner tonight. This was the Turkey and Bacon panini ($5.99) which had spinach, mozzarella cheese and chipotle sauce within. It smelled good! In fact, it's in the fridge right now just waiting to be devoured.

MFH ordered the Chipotle Lime Tuna Salad sandwich ($5.99). Now this was a real sandwich not one masquerading as a panini. This had Tuna, red onions, chipotle mayo, lettuce, pepper jack cheese, and lime juice. I had a tiny bit of it and it was pretty good. You could taste the lime in there and the chipotle gave it a bit of a kick.

There seemed to be a mix up in the order because TC's sandwich seemed to be forgotten. I had her eat some of mine while we waited for the order to go through. This was the Italian panini ($6.49) - filled with slices of ham, turkey, pepperoni, mozzarella cheese and prego Italian sauce (I hope they didn't used jarred "Prego" sauce, hmmm). I had a bite of this and liked it better than mine. Very tasty!

We couldn't leave without trying some of their dessert offerings...

My mini cannoli ($1.25) - this tiny size was just right. There was also a bigger size but I just wanted the small one. The shell was crisp and the ricotta filling sweet and creamy.

The Oreo Cheesecake was for TC ($2.99) - she enjoyed a few bites and we took the rest home. It was very light There didn't seem to be much oreo, except for the one on top.

MFH was on the same wavelength as me and also got a mini dessert (don't remember the price). This was some sort of mini cream puff topped with whipped cream and a strawberry sliver. It was cute and just the right portion, if you're trying not to go 'overboard'.

Of course, I couldn't forget to bring something home for Bert. This was the Apple Caramel cream cheese cake ($2.99). I'll have to put in his verdict on this dessert later....
Update - we just had the apple caramel cheesecake and it was delicious! Bert loved it. There were bits of chopped apple throughout the cheese cake. I was glad for that because sometimes desserts are given these descriptive names but it only describes the top. In this case, at least there were green apples embedded within the cheesecake itself. Now, if they incorporate more of that caramel, like a ribbon of it or something...

It was a beautiful and sunny day today. I'm glad I got to spend it with two of my favorite people.
See my original post on Sweet Sisters Baker here...
Hopefully the service will improve here. I thought I was clear when I did the order but mistakes happen. No worries. They only just opened a few months ago so I'm sure they are working out the kinks. We will definitely come back to try their crepes and some of their other sandwiches.

For some reason, I enjoy half heads of lettuce type salads. I think it's because of the very first Caesar salad I had served like that when I was a kid. I felt so grown up.
The apple caramel cream cheese cake looks divine!
hi c - i liked the look of the salad but it was very unwieldy and awkward to eat!
i do like wedge salads though!
as for that dessert - we just had it tonight and it was very good! there were bits of chopped apple at the bottom.
