Return to Smashburger

This past week, TC and her cousin (who is one day older) both "promoted" from 6th grade.

Since when did they stop using the term "graduation"? I remember "graduating" from 6th and 9th grade as well, but it is considered more "correct" to say "promotion".  Well, screw that, they GRADUATED! The kids were given a choice where to eat so what better place to go for lunch than Smashburger in Mission Valley's Hazard Center!

I think those fried would totally do me in - in a bad way. But it sure looks good!

Nephew #2 (the ex-8th grader) chose a burger with onion strings and jalapenos with a side of fries. I was surprised to see the peppers on his burger since I always thought he was a picky eater.

Nephew #4 got the "San Diego" burger which had pepper jack cheese, avocadoes, chipotle mayo (on the side) and lettuce, onion, and tomatoes. He got his with fries. TC ended up getting almost the same thing (her side was the onion strings)....Next time we go here I want to have this again!

My sister got the burger with bbq sauce, cheese, and onion strings. I think she ordered the avocadoes as extra. Bert got the same thing as her but sans avocado.

TC and I shared a chocolate milk shake which tasted so good on this very hot day. I think I got third degree burns sitting out in the sun during the "promotion" ceremony.

I wanted to eat healthier for lunch so I ordered the Cobb salad. I have to say that this was one of the best salads I've had in a while. Everything was so cool and fresh and did I mention there was BACON in here? Oh yes.....

I have to admit that I took a bite or two or six from Bert's burger! Now that's another one I want to try in the future as well.

Almost everyone there (with the exception of TC and myself) were new to Smashburger. The verdict? A total home run! Both bro and sis loved it and so did the nephews!

It was going to be a very long day! Lunch with the fam...then home to relax for a tiny bit.

Our next destination was this new place at Plaza Bonita mall; it was an informal get together for some of the ex-6th graders....
