Return to Nordstrom Cafe

Today I had the pleasure of joining both C from CAB Cooks and Kirbie from Kirbie's Cravings for lunch...

A view of the historic Keating Building, which houses Croce's (corner of F and Fifth) in the Gaslamp Quarter...

I parked on "Cherry 6". I always park near Nordstrom's so I won't get lost. Plus, this floor has a pedestrian bridge and is also the same floor as the women's bathroom (or "lounge" as they call it here). In the distance, you can see the towers by the Convention Center and at the far left, the Hilton...

The Nordstrom Cafe was chosen since it was central for all of us. Plus, free parking with validation!

Since I'd returned from Canada, I gave both CAB and Kirbie food gifts from our neighbor to the North. Namely, Canadian snacks like ketchup flavored pringles, candies (not pictured), and Bird's Custard Powder (used in making Nanaimo Bars, a beloved Canadian confection).

We all felt like having salads today...

CAB's Chinese Chicken Salad...

Kirbie's Grilled Salmon Salad. I was intrigued by the parmesan cheese crisp. I want to try making those at home!

And my salad - the Cobb, which I totally forgot had the dreaded BLUE CHEESE on it! I had to ask for an extra spoon so I could remove the mold laden gunk off my salad.  My ranch dressing was also on the side. Ranch is one of the few salad dressings I will eat. With the exception of the blue cheese, I enjoyed this salad very much, especially the bacon bits! In fact, I went grocery shopping later that afternoon so I could recreate a version of this Cobb salad for dinner.

Salads in the summer time are so refreshing...plus you don't have to slave over a hot stove to pull it off!

Dessert was shared by all - a Lemon Coconut number that we picked over Creme Brulee, Tiramisu and Boston Cream Pie. Maybe we should have had the creme brulee. This cake was way too lemony for our tastes. For me, it was also too sweet. So unfortunately, this dessert was only finished 1/3 of the way through. If it doesn't taste good, then don't eat it!

It was so nice seeing Kirbie again. I hadn't seen her since our mini foodcrawl in early April with her FH, Dennis and CAB.  We were able to catch up on the latest news with each other while enjoying our lunch...

See my previous post on Nordstrom Cafe here...

Up next...the return of the Portland posts and maybe a few Canada ones thrown in for good measure!

I had so much fun catching up with you two. And I already opened the ketchup chips, I couldn't resist. FH made a face when I showed him the flavor, but then he tasted one and now I have to fight him off. haha. So addicting!

Love it! Like I said, my friend from Texas ALWAYS picks up a few bags of Ketchup chips when she visits Toronto! I thought it was funny, but I can see why she does it! :) We love our ketchup chips here in Canada!

CC, I'm so sad we didn't get to see Cosmopolis! :(

Cheese crisps- easy- if you have a teflon coated or well seasoned pan...hot hot pan and shredded cheese. No carbs! I do so enjoy Nordstrom Cafe: civilized dining and old fashioned...totally understand why Department stores had (and have) a restaurant inside.
