Other than the punk band "X" from L.A., there was no other fitting choice than this group...
This'll be a very short post as I am still on vacation...
I first heard of X Japan from one of my Japanese students. This was back in the late 90's. He had a picture of them on his folder and I asked about it. He ended up making me a mixed tape with X Japan and some other J-Rock artists like Glay and L'Arc en Ciel.
The cover for their single "Kurenai" (which means "crimson"):
According to wikipedia's entry on "Kurenai (song)":
"Kurenai" is one of X Japan's signature songs, exemplifying the band's trademark mix of speed metal, ballad and symphonic elements, it is played at nearly all of their concerts, often accompanied by the stage being lit in red light and the band pausing during the last third in order to let the audience sing the chorus on their own."
I love the fantastic-bombastic-ness of it all!
I like it almost as much as their other classic ballad, "Endless Rain"!
Previous entry - "X" is for XTC!
Only two more letters left!
