As an avid seeker of all things odd, I knew we just had to see this roadside oddity...
No, not the Bomber Restaurant. Can you see what's that hovering at the top of the photo below?

It's the wing of a plane!
Not just any plane, but a WWII era B-17G bomber!

The bomber is currently undergoing restoration. It's front end was missing. Dozens of birds call this place "home" unfortunately. The bomber is nicknamed "Lady Lacey". It used to act as a cover for a filling station as well.

The front end (cockpit/nose) is missing. The gas station pumps are long gone.

You can read more info about the bomber here (from one of my favorite sites, Roadside America)...

Onelast look before heading back to our hotel...

Dinner was a simple affair that we made in our suite kitchen. Just mixed spring freens salad with a grilled cheese sandwich and steamed snap peas.

The wheat bread was grilled with butter and filled with sliced tomatoes, prosciutto, and slices of the Garlic White cheddar cheese we bought at our recent visit to the Tillamook Cheese Factory

Delicious and simple...

I remember when this was a gas station. Even filled up there once. A long, long time ago.
I read somewhere that it stopped being a gas station in 1991.
Oops, WC! I inadvertently "erased" your last comment. I was 'hovering' over the comment and clicked on 'remove content' by mistake! Sorry!
So, yeah, that must have been the 80's then when you saw the actual gas station pumps! :)
