Anyhow, here are some Canadian snacks. Crispers are like Wheatables. Bits & Bites are like Chex Mix...

The drive times between the cities were hellaciously long! Plus their freeways are always in a state of construction...
Traffic here is about as bad as L.A.'s! "Centre-Ville" means "Downtown"...

A Harvey's restaurant, snapped from the car. We didn't eat here but this is a Canadian burger chain, known for their char-grilled burgers.

Instead of Harvey's we went to another well known Quebecois eatery for two iconic dishes:
Poutine and Smoked Meat sandwich.

The cheese curds were fresh since they "squeaked" when you chewed them. The meat was melt in your mouth soft and the rye bread was the perfect vehicle in which to bookend these slabs of smoky goodness.
We met up with another one of C's friend's who lives in the charming town of Levis (pronounced "leh-vee"), which is across the river from Old Quebec. She and her five children took us to the local ice cream place. This was one of her kids' cone. Dipped in chocolate. Drool city.

The Armoury building in Levis...

Later for "supper" (what we call "dinner") we took the ferry over from Levis to Old Quebec...

We enjoyed our meal at this cute French bistro. This was C's entree, which she deemed as the meal she would eat before she dies (her "death meal"). This was a puff pastry topped seafood in cream sauce with the sea food originating from the Magdalen Islands (a French territory located in eastern Canada).

Sugar pie topped with fresh cream....

We walked off our calories by exploring the quaint narrow cobblestone streets...

Maple candy at one of the many souvenir shops...

A view of Vieux-Quebec (Old Quebec) at night from the ferry boat. This is the Chateau Frontenanc which dominates the Old Quebec skyline. It's part of Haute-Ville (Upper Town). We only got to see a tiny bit of Basse-Ville (lower town). At the bottom right corner, you can see the funicular (a cliff railway) which connects lower town to upper town.

Seeing the city at night was such a treat. There were no crowds and we didn't have to suffer through the unbearable heat wave during the daytime. The temperature at night was also comfortably warm. We enjoyed the night air as we sat on the top deck of the ferry boat.
The quick ten minute ferry ride brought us back to Levis where we would spend our last night in Quebec before heading over to Montreal...
