Before I went home, my hairstylist gave me some of her homemade Pozole (pork and hominy soup)!
It was nice not having to cook for dinner that night! Not only did she give me a large container of the Pozole, she also gave me the garnishes (sliced radishes, chopped onions and cilantro) along with a small loaf of French bread (not pictured) and a package of tostadas. Notice, no tortillas. She said that she and her family eat their pozole with tostadas.

Squeezing some lemon into the soup...

which was so flavorful with all of the fresh toppings. There was a tiny bit of heat but not dangerously so. The pork meat had a lot of bones (it was the foot I believe). One of the pieces in my bowl had the skin attached. Gives the soup a lot of flavor, but I didn't eat the soft and gelatinous skin. We liked eating this with the tostadas as well. You know, I love crunchy things!

The soup was delicious and we all enjoyed it very much! I'll have to learn her recipe one day so I can make it anytime I want.
Here are some various versions of Mexican Pozole:

There's probably more authentic versions out there, but I'll have to link those next time...

This is one of my favorite soups to eat when I'm sick. So good! I think it's like pho because of all the other ingredients you can add to customize to your taste.
