ABC Music Humpday Posts 2.0 - "G" is for...

Can you believe it?

Today's installment is a Kiss cover by none other than....

Garth Brooks! WTF, right?

But seriously, Garth does a pretty decent cover of "Hard Luck Woman" by Kiss. Here's Garth performing the song on an old episode of Leno with Kiss themselves:

From the 1976 Kiss album, Rock and Roll Over" with rare lead vocals by drummer Peter Criss (that's the guy who had the "cat" makeup for those of you who aren't rock savvy). This is the same album that also had the hit songs "Beth" and "Calling Dr. Love".

In the early 90's, Garth could do no wrong. He was all over the place, country was super popular and although I personally never listened to him, I have to say that he was a very good entertainer. Remember, the early to mid 90's were a pretty dark period in music. Hair metal was dying and grunge and country ruled the airwaves.

I do remember his pretty faithful cover of this Kiss song which came from the 1994 Kiss tribute album, "Kiss My Ass: Classic Kiss Regrooved" (Ha, gotta love that album title!). This song made Garth a little bit more "palatable" to my rocker chick tastes. The studio version of the song was a bit more "gentle" sounding than his perfomance with Kiss, but I still like both versions nonetheless.

Thought I'd throw in Garth's cover song in this series to mix it up a bit!

My original post - "G" is for Girlschool!

I've got to decide on next week's post, "H"!
