which was perched on top of one of my dessert stands...
This particular stand was a faceted glass plate with a clear faceted glass goblet as the base. I didn't bother taking the baklava off of the paper plate...

One of my friends from the gym promised me some of her baklava made with walnuts. Her baklava is Armenian style as she is of Armenian descent. In fact, Cher went to her high school in Fresno (decades before her)...

These were so good! The phyllo was so flaky and buttery and layered with honey and walnuts. She claims they are "easy" to make, but the lazy baker in me doesn't want to deal with layering those paperthin sheets.

Of course, I have to come up with my end of the deal, which is to make pancit for her and some of the other ladies at the gym. We need to have some sort of "international" potluck or something. That would be great - Mexican, Filipino, Armenian, Thai, and Greek!

Lucky you! I just bought some nuts this weekend in prep of making some myself for when the Mister gets back. I promised him I'd make some. It is actually easy, just a little tedious. But boy, it's so good!
