Lunch specials at Mea Kwan

Last week a few friends and I went to Mea Kwan for lunch...

As you can see, their counter was decked out for Valentine's Day...

Looks like they redid their menu (there are now photos inside as well):

They also added lunch specials. Before you had to order their regular entrees which didn't come with soup, salad, and the (disappointing) egg roll.

My iced coffee. I needed a caffeine pickup. This was before I mixed the cream. I prefer Vietnamese style ice coffee instead with the condensed milk. Either way, I like my iced coffee super sweet.

The soup was really watery and thin tasting. You could taste the garlic. The vegetables were diced carrots, scallions, and zucchini. No lemon grass, no coconut milk. After having only 3 or 4 spoons, I decided I didn't really like it at all.

Both of my friends got the Lunch Special of Green Curry with Chicken. The egg roll was really sad. For two of us, it was cold inside. The other one got the warm egg roll. The salad had some sort of sweet dressing on it. I didn't realize it would be totally drowned in dressing. Note to self - ask them to either put it on the side next time or not have it at all.

I decided to be super boring and got the Pad Thai with Shrimp. That was a big amount of noodles. It came with four shrimp. The dipping sauce was sweet chili and had a tiny bit of a kick to it. You can order the spiciness from 1 to 10. Mine was a '3' which was just right. My other friend got a '6' since she can handle spicy food a lot better than me and our other companion.

I'll have to try one of their curry dishes next time for variety...
