Odds 'n endz again...

A few odds 'n endz that I'm trying to unload from my camera:

Last month, we met up with a friend at the Bento on East H Street

I tried one of their new lunch specials - the Chow Fun Noodles with Beef (Chinese food in a Japanese place?)....

The picture in the menu showed more vegetables. This only had crappy bean sprouts and onions. Would have been nice to have some broccoli or carrots in there. I liked the noodles but of course, the amount was way too much. Saved it later for TC.

My mocha from Big Joy Bakery (from my outing with D during our night quest of obtaining sweets and desserts for KD's tea party)...Pretty design on the top, eh?

Also had lunch at Murrieta's on Bonita Road with another set of friends. I only took a photo of my own food. This was the fish ceviche with avocado. I ate mine with some of the saltines they provided but mostly had this with their tortilla chips. The ceviche was all right but too watery for my tastes. I think the citric acid in there also acted up on my gumline because it was super sensitive later that evening when I brushed my teeth. So much so that I had to borrow Bert's Sensodyne toothpaste. I am still cringing thinking about how that felt.

Sorry for the blurry photo but I was trying to take this on the sly. I was at the Veterans Thrift Store on Broadway a few weeks ago. Looks like someone unloaded their 1980's framed art collection. Does the artwork look familiar? It's by Patrick Nagel, a former illustrator for Playboy, best known for his album cover art for Duran Duran's "Rio" album cover.

There were about five or six framed prints here. They weren't even faded and were in really nice frames with glass, not plastic. Price? $12.00. I was so tempted to get them but I wouldn't even know where I'd hang it in our place. Plus, these are kind of dated...

Chinese food from the district counselor luncheon (last week was School Counselor's Week, yay us)...

This was a nice change from the normally boring food we get (pasta and caesar salad). There was white rice (I skipped on that), fried rice, noodles with vegetables, salt and pepper chicken wings, broccoli beef. something with tofu, sweet and sour chicken and kung pao chicken.

Dessert was two types of chocolate cake as well as red velvet and lemon cakes slices (from Costco). I didn't really like the tofu - it was too spongy feeling but I liked the vegetables in that dish.

All the Caucasians and non-Asian folks in the unit were very excited to have this kind of food. Well, for us Filipinos and other Asians, it was stuff we are used to seeing at parties anyways. Don't get me wrong, I was glad it wasn't Italian or Greek food. Thank goodness for having our President (who is 2nd gen Filipino American) pick out the food, which he ordered from Mandarin (across from SWC).
