After we took photos of her and her BF (or as Bert called him, the "boy that is a friend"), we decided to make it date night (date afternoon actually)...

Here is the view of some of the eateries on 30th St. from the North Park parking garage.
A few blocks away was our early dinner destination...

The site of the old North Park Post office now turned pizza place...
It was still early enough where there weren't crowds, which I much prefer.

We liked our visit so much last time, we needed to come back and so here we were. While TC was out taking photos in Balboa Park and heading off to prom, we were pondering which pizza choice and beer to imbibe for dinner...Our final choice, the Al Pastor pizza and the 2am Bike Ride beer by Fall Brewing Company, a local brewery ; and added plus, the beer is infused with Cafe Moto coffee, one of our favorite local roasters.

See the black wheeled carts with bags of flour? They removed those at 5 pm so that the space could be opened up for the dinner crowd.

This beer good. Yaysss..

Tasted like coffee on nitro. I should say that coffee on nitro has that beerlike mouthfeel. Either way, I like both.

We added the salad after placing our order. The salad was called "A long time ago, in a galaxy farro farro away" (if you don't get the reference, you definitely haven't watched "Star Wars Episode IV").

They guy who rung us up was also the same person who served us our salad and pizza. He really knew his stuff, rattling off the ingredients effortlessly and answering my questions about the spiral pattern in the beets (they are Chioggia beets). This was great service. This just wasn't some dude that dumps off your food, says 'Enjoy' and has no idea about the food being served (believe it or not, there are people like that). The salad had so many textures going on - mixed greens, roasted and spiced chickpeas, those cool beets, watermelon radish (another striking component), cucumbers, Gaeta olives (salty) and yes, farro along with creamy avocado dressing.

It's so beautiful, so here's another closeup...

The "Los Pizzas hermanos al Pastor" came highly recommended. The sausage was housemade with an IPA and nine spice powder, roasted corn and poblano peppers in a creamy sauce (Mozzarella and fresh Mexican cheese), cilantro and oregano. It was fantastic and we would totally get this again.

The ingredients were nicely spaced out and did not overload the pizza. The crust was light with a nice chew to it.

We really enjoyed both the salad and the pizza. Both choices were standouts in terms of presentation and flavor combinations, plus that beer, yeah.
Who else went to Tribute Pizza?
Kirk has a nice roundup of past meals in his recent post in April
Update - Kirbie just posted on her visit June 2017
Previous visit to Tribute:
"Al Reef now defunct...Plan B - Tribute Pizza" February 2017
There was a funny moment when we asked the server to take a few photos of us. One of the gals next to us (not pictured) had a nice photobomb, it was hilarious. We even thanked her for it. If you plan to ever go here, mid afternoons (after 4 but before 6) are nice since it's not crazy crowded. We'll have to go back to try Kirk and his wife's favorite item, the foccaccio with Nduja (a spreadable salame)!
