International Deli and Cafe + shopping break

Before heading over to Fashion Valley to window shop, I wanted us to check out this place that Cathy of mmm-yoso highly recommended...

It's in the same strip mall as Rose Donuts and J & T Thai Street Food...

Formerly known as Ryan's Cafe, the new establishment is called International Deli and Cafe. The first location is in Garden Grove; this is their second location and has been open for five weeks already.

I was intrigued by their Romanian offerings...

The deli is also a small market carrying goods from Eastern Europe. Their cold case on the left has drinks, cold cuts and desserts. The one in the front showcases sausages and bacon (some are house made) as well as cheeses.

They have chocolate Kinder products here.

So many interesting ingredients, spices, crackers, cookies and fruit drinks to explore.

Down here are their Chimney Cakes, which is a cake where the dough is wrapped around a rod or spit and it cooked over an open fire. It is basted with sugar syrup which caramelizes as it cooks. It's not too sweet and there are flavors like plain, coconut, walnut and almond. Two sizes are listed on the menu but only the large sizes were out that day. They were being sold 2 for $10.

Their menu board:

Meat and sausage galore:

This was Langos, a Hungarian fried bread specialty. This version was served nice and warm and slathered with our choice of sour cream and dill. I passed on the feta cheese because feta smells quite vile to me.  Sorry, but hey.  But OMG, can you just see the  beautiful, golden brown, puffy disc of fried goodness?

To be honest, we only had a few bites because we were going to save our appetites for lunch later that afternoon.

We had to try the Chimney cake - we bought two, the coconut for us to sample and the wrapped walnut version would be a gift for our good friend TORC.

This wasn't too sweet at all, The lady working the counter said it was fresh out of the oven and convinced us early to wait for the fresh ones; I am glad we did!

I see you...

This place deserve a repeat visit!

Over at Fashion Valley, we all had our own agendas, return this or exchange that or get a "needed" item at one of their stores.  In this case, D wanted to get some tea at Teavana, a brand whose name I've seen on the Starbucks menu.  They had a free tea tasting bar and I tried a few of the cold ones, including this flavor,  Youthberry and Wild Orange Blossom.

Now THIS was so delicious and fruity. It didn't even taste like tea to me.  I would get this if I didn't have to steep the shit. There are only bags of the leaves and not anything "instant", which I'm sure would be blasphemous for the die-hard tea fans, but I'm lazy.

This flavor was also really good, Emperor' Clouds & Mist (Peach tranquility).  I wanted to just pour a glass of this instead of that tiny disposable cup, ha ha, but I restrained myself.

Meanwhile over at the MAC store...

I'll pass on those light pink and nude shade, thank you.

The dark colors on the right (below) are more of what I like with names like Media, Hang Up, Fashion Revival, Underworld, Diva, Rebel.  I have been wearing MAC lipstick for 22 years and my go to color is Media. They have a recycling program where if you turn in any six empty plastic products (it can be an old lipstick tube or even eyeshadow, blush, etc), you get a free lipstick! It takes me about a year and a half to get my free lipstick. I go through my colors pretty quickly because I wear lipstick EVERY DAMN DAY and I reapply like there's no tomorrow.
