Birthday fun with Astroboi - Breakfast @ Brothers Family Restaurant once again, Spring Time Dano paintings & another wellness drink from S3 Coffee

My last weekend of my birthday month...

was spent with my BFF Astroboi...

at a place we went to exactly one year ago...

I was excited to see these paintings by Dano!

Dano strikes again, this time with butterflies, bunnies and flowers!

Astroboi got what I had last year, the Chicken Fried Steak, while I opted for something different.

That's a lot of food there...

CFS with scrambled eggs and extra crispy hash browns (by request) and sourdough:

The Aunt Jenny pancakes were amazing - so light and fluffy! I actually want to come back again so Bert can have these. Oh who am I kidding, I want them again!  The three meats were ham, a sausage patty (kind of dried out though, poo) and bacon.

The ham was on the salty side but the bacon was thick cut and fried nicely (not burnt!)

I like how the ladybug is holding a pizza!

Our server was really nice. All of the workers at Brothers are so friendly. It's just not very diverse. We were the only non whites there.  But then, it would be the reverse if they were down south.

My curiosity got the better of me...

(flowers on the greenery wall are new)

Passionfruit iced tea for Astroboi and the Dark Beet espresso drink for me.  I had to.

The drink looked pretty with layers - the beet juice was at the bottom but colored the rest of the drink a lovely dark pink. There was espresso in here as well as chocolate milk. I could hardly taste the beet juice either.  It tasted more like chocolate milk with a tiny bit of coffee.

Cheers!

The other drink on the "wellness drink" menu has turmeric, chai, dates, pepper and milk.  I hate chai so that will be a 'no'. The beet/coffee drink wasn't so bad!

Previoust visit to S3:
Earlier this month with Bert

If you know me, you will know that I usually go for the typical American breakfast (eggs, meat and some sort of potatoes) rather than the sweet stuff. These buttermilk pancakes at Brothers were really good - I finished one, Astroboi had the other, while the last one became leftovers (which were unceremoniously scarfed down by yours truly later that day). Next time, I won't wait 'til my birthday coupon...

Astroboi was a big help to me after breakfast. We went to several places to pick up supplies and materials to make centerpieces for my parents' upcoming 50th Anniversary. Astroboi has a good eye for design and helped me select frames and flowers. I'll have to do a separate post on the centerpieces once I get all of the components. It should look cool once I'm done with everything...

After our craft shopping excursions, we made our way to North Park to a newly opened cafe, the first of its kind in San Diego...
