I already knew what I wanted for lunch...
We sat inside since it was pretty hot earlier today. Their outside patio didn't look like it was open either. Plus, air conditioning inside.
This was La Ley and another co-worker's shared ahi tostada plate. I've had these before and they are definitely delicious.

My other colleague's dish, the Gambas al Ajillo (shrimp with olive oil and garlic); this too is an excellent dish that tastes good with the bread that they serve.

Two of us (myself include) got the Gambas al Romesco (shrimp with Romesco sauce served over thin cut fried)....This was a meal in itself.

This proved to be a tad much since I had potato tacos as well (seen below). So, theseenjoyed as leftovers later that evening.
My other lunch dish was the potato tacos. It's hard to see but there are two.

Another co-worker ordered a fish taco trio lunch special. Way better than Rubio's for sure.

The lone person not eating seafood (not Catholic, not Mexican or Filipino) was Mr. TJ. This was the beef short rib torta served with the same thin fries as our shrimp dishes. I don't know why they gave him so many jalapenos. He didn't even eat one of them. He sweats at spice level one (it's fun to see actually).

That was my exciting seafood lunch. Later that evening, TC invited the BF to dinner with us. This was the first time we have all gone out together. Wow. We. Felt. Old.
This was his first time trying Vietnamese food. We chose a local favorite of ours. It was too late to go up to the Convoy area on a Friday night (it was already 6:30 p.m.) and we didn't want to deal with a drive, then a long wait, so Chula Vista it was to good ole Pho Hung Cali.

I won't bore you with the fresh spring rolls or the extra bun with shrimp dish. TC's BF had beef pho (brisket and pho tai, not pictured) and really liked it. He also liked the vegetable spring rolls that we all shared. Eating a spring roll with lettuce and mint was a new experience for him as well as tearing off pieces of basil and putting in bean sprouts, etc into his soup.
I was still a little full from lunch at Romesco's. I ordered the shrimp salad (with shaved cucumber, julienned carrots, fresh herbs and chopped peanuts). I had a tiny bit intending to save the rest for the next few das.

Bun with shrimp (ordered by both Bert and TC)...

Previous visit to Romesco's:

This year I kind of cheated (sorry, vacation, you know). I haven't been struck down by a bolt from above so I guess it's okay. For now, heh. We should really make Seafood Friday every Friday though.
