Our last stop of the day for my birthday crawl...

You can't miss this place due to the striking mural in front...
Plus I was curious to meet of the chefs, Krizpin Oades whose late father, Dr. Riz Oades was a former professor of Philippine studies a SDSU. Although I never took Dr. Oades' class, I sat in on a few sessions when Superman was his student and used to read his articles in the Asian Journal newspaper.

There has been a design rehaul. No more green but some of the orange remains. There is an equally eye popping mural inside, that of a squid with evil teefs, and jelly fish on the opposite walls.

We still had some room, after our window shopping and actually shopping session at Fashion Valley.

Our Spam musubi appetizer and our trio of dishes to share:

D ordered their version of a loco moco which was amazing - the beef was high end, the rice was fried instead of plain white and there was also thick cut glazed bacon underneath that fried egg. This was so #$%@ delicious.

KD ordered the Huli Huli wings, teriyaki and pineapple glazed. These were also quite tasty with crisp, sweet and savory skinz.

I read about their signature dish, the shrimp pasta which really was amazing. The shrimps were quite large and plump. The textures from the caramelized garlic and shallots and the flavorful shrimp sauce went well with the fresh herbs and edamame beans.

This is something I would come back for with Bert. If anything, this could have used more noodles but this was really a great dish!

Who else went to Trade Winds Tavern?
Kirk spotted the change a few months ago..."Trade Winds Tavern soft opening..." February 2017
Plus Lynn from Oh So Yummy visited recently along with Faye of Faye's Fork (they were there for the same event) in early March. It was their posts that piqued my curiosity...

They had an extensive craft beer list but I don't really imbibe (unless I am with Bert) and neither does D or KD. I hope they offer flights because I would totally go for that. In all, a most excellent adventure spent with my closest friends.
Here is my birthday crawl in order:
"Birthday Food Crawl with the Educator GF's - First stop...Communal Coffee"
"The Kouch Espresso Bar & Lounge"
"International Deli and Cafe"
plus this last post!
