here we were...
after perusing their choices, I ended up getting a long thin cake instead of the bigger round cake. It's just us three anyways.

The strawberry roll it was! We brought this home as soon as we could then rushed back out to TC's track meet.
Fast forward to dinner...our original plan was Pho Hiep Grill and Chateau in Eastlake. TC would join us after her meet. Once again, I had a birthday coupon, this time for a free bundlet at Nothing Bundt Cakes. This was their flavor of the month, Strawberries & Cream, The girl gave us samples and I decided to get this (yes, another cake, but this one is TINY, ha ha).

As for Pho Hiep Chateau and Grill, the line was mega long and having had a crappy experience while waiting in the past, decided NOT to deal with waiting and instead go to Plan B, Bamboo Garden over in Otay Ranch. We texted TC to meet us but she didn't read her texts until after she parked in Eastlake. While waiting for TC, we saw some friends of ours leave the Thai place so we chatted until TC arrived.

No wait here and best of all, no lines and crowds or unruly childrenz.
We shared our plates family style - Pad thai with tofu (TC), Drunken noodles with shrimp (mine) and crab fried rice (Bert). Of the three dishes, I liked mine the best. The rice was all right but could have used more crab. It was only placed on the top and not mixed within. I'm hoping that it wasn't canned crab. :(

These lovely flowers were from TC...

The strawberry roll was so pretty and yes, it tasted just as delicious as it looked. TC liked the pink chocolate shavings. I liked that we could slice the cake as rounds instead of having to cut a wedge if it were a round cake. I always mangle my cakes but not with this shape!
