KnB Wine Cellars

I feel so behind...This post was from several weeks ago when Bert and I had one of our morning "dates". Earlier that very morning, we met up with Cathy and her Mister at Kaffee Meister and then split up into two cars so the menfolk could converse solo and the women could do the same!

(driving west on Mission Gorge Road from Santee)

It turns out that both of us heard the his/her versions of East County landmarks, neighborhoods, trivia, and such.

(still driving west on Mission Gorge Road)

It was quite cool hearing all this as we drove (in separate cars, I with Cathy) from Santee to nearby Del Cerro...

to use up not one but TWO coupons for KnB (Keg and Bottle) Wine Cellars.  Below, the view of SDSU coming down a hill in Del Cerro (forgot the name but I'm sure Cathy will remember and I'll update it).

When you see this windmill, you are at the right place. KnB is in the stripmall ext to Windmill Farms. They had a large outdoor patio as well as more seating inside. In fact, when we went inside, Cathy said they had remodeled since her last visit (her post linked at the end).

Now that's a lot of alcohol! Floor to ceiling, literally!

The view from our table...It was nice and uncrowded when we got there, around 10 something.

One coupon expired this year; the other, next year. We tried our luck in using both since we were two couples and thankfully, the server accepted both. It wasn't even questioned. Sometimes establishments will only allow one coupon per table. So yeah, score! And points to the awesome waitress too. We all ordered items from their breakfast/brunch menu, which is only served on the weekends. They do not publish their brunch menu online because, according to the guy I spoke to on the phone, it changes every week.

The alcohol list (the top half). Bert got the third one down, the Nut Brown, a nice and smooth dark.

Our brunch entrees:

Bert's "Three Little Piggies"  pulled pork sliders made with their own stout and with sweet potato fries and a slightly spicy dipping sauce. Those fries were like CRACK with the most delicious outer coating sprinkled with sea salt...

The Mister's Hangover Helper with chorizo, potatoes and egg. This was a very hearty meal!

Cathy's Salad on a Raft - Lavash triangles with bacon and a fried egg on salad. This was like a breakfast salad.

My Breakfast Sandwich with bacon, two fried eggs (over hard, not easy), tomatoes and added guac plus potatoes. I ended up eating mostly the filling and not much of the bread (the bread was good, don't get me wrong, but I just didn't want to consume the extra carbs).

These sauces were on our table, heheh. This is a local company and the owner is a gringo/white dude. The sauces were sold next door at Windmill Farms for nearly $8 a pop.  For those who don't know Mexican slang, Chingon is kind of a bad word but I guess it depends on the context (please see my previous Cafe Moto post which details the meanings of Chingon).

Of the three sauced, I liked the red one the best. The orange was very hot since it had habanero.

We all enjoyed of our meals here and were happy with the double coupon usage as well. The food was quality and the service was great. We saved some bucks and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Who else went to KnB Wine Cellars?
Cathy and her husband went here for lunch June 2012. If you look at her post, you will notice the interior is much much different. It is described as a "maze" even. The tall bottle filled cases in the middle are now gone and replaced with a dining area...

Will have to go back to try their other menu items (perhaps lunch or dinner)...

I have seen this place and was wondering about it! Yay, now I get to see what it's like! The food all looks pretty good, especially your sandwich and Mister's "hangover" breakfast. Score you got to use both coupons!

Everything on their menu sounded pretty good. And yeah, score for the dual coupon use. some places are really strict but they didn't even bat an eye!
