This coupon was burning a hole in my pocket...

and we both wanted caffeine before going out to a late breakfast (or brunch, you could say)...
Kaffee Meister has two locations, both family run and owned. This located is run by the daughter and her husband; her parents own the Lakeside shop. The coffee place is in the Carlton Oaks Plaza, right next to the park. This plaza is one of the main business centers in Santee and includes the city's public library.

See the Cupcake Store? I have a coupon for that too but will use it for a future visit...
I was pleasantly surprised at the decor of Kaffee Meister. It was a bit hipster but also very modern and low-key.

You may see their menu online here:

I got my standby drink, the iced blended mocha, while Bert got a Viennese style coffee (which had cinnamon, ugh), Cathy got a regular coffee and a sample of a 'bold' roast (which it wasn't) for her husband.

Bert had a nice leaf pattern on his drink...

Notice the hipster stamped logo on the sleeve. My drink was just okay. Maybe I should have ordered a regular iced coffee instead of blended. I didn't check if they had cold brew either. I would go here again (and get a cupcake from that place a few doors away) and try something else in the future.

It was a nice morning, once again spent with good company. It's kind of neat that Bert and I are going out Saturday mornings since TC is out practicing. We are so used to all being together.
We spent about a good half hour or so at one of the outside tables before heading out to brunch ten minutes away in Del Cerro...That post coming up next!

This was different for us to do, since there are three Starbucks locations (plus the one inside Vons) in the City. Reminded us to try for more local than chains.
Pretty leaf! I've been in this plaza once - to go to that cupcake store. I remember the cupcakes just being okay. I think they accidentally melted in the car and weren't pretty anymore so I never blogged about it. And then we went to the library store and scored some really cheap books! I wish every place had cold brew coffee, then I would visit all the time!
hi cathy - we wanted to meet up with you guys on your 'home turf' so to speak. loved the tour of del cerro too.
mary - yes, isn't it? some places have terrible latte art, but this isn't one of them. re: cupcake store - if it sucks i won't feel so bad if i use my buy 1 get 1 free coupon. now i want to check out that library for their book sale! also, they DID have cold brew coffee there. dagnabbit. next time.
