This time, I met up with The Prof...
She got there before me and was given the regular menu. I told her we'd try ordering from the Appetizers menu. When I asked for it, the server said "Sorry we do that for Happy Hour only". I then insisted (nicely I might add) that I was there the week before and we were given the menu. She said she would "ask" and then left. When she returned, she gave the appetizers menu. It looked the same from last week. We wanted to try the Sea Snail Green Mango salad but it turned out they were out of snails so the server suggested the Surf Clam Salad (below)...

Our other order was the Shaking Beef (filet mignon)...

I'd never had Surf clam before but my friend had (on sushi). We both liked the clean bright flavors. The greens were watercress and had fried shallots on top. The beef was really tender but a bit underseasoned.

There's a piece of that surf clam. My photo is desaturated (played around with the settings) - in real life, the clam piece is a striking reddish orange.

We also got the Sausage Stuffed Calamari (kind of like a Squid Relleno that is fried). The sausage filling is the same that they use for their fried egg rolls (with carrots and wood ear mushrooms.

This was really good and I wished there were more pieces.

The complimentary dessert was this pudding with mini tapioca balls, boiled peanuts and some dark long stringy thing (not sure what it was). I didn't really like it because it was warm and soft. I am not into that gushy texture therefore it grossed me out, but The Prof liked it!

No plastic in my ice this time but I brought my own water just in case.

Glad no stray plastic on this visit. Glad you asked for the menu (sheesh). The surf clam looks really good as do the stuffed calamari.
