Since it was right across the street from Nam An, The Prof and I went to Pangea for dessert. Unfortunately their offerings weren't what we were looking for. Their selection was rather meager that morning and it was also really crowded in there. here was o hot dog thing, no blueberry bun, no mocha, no almond, and so on. There was only one other place we could go...a place just a few blocks/stripmalls away...

No surprise. We went to Big Joy Bakery again!I was pretty sure by now the ladies working there already knew my face. It was my third time in as many days (including this visit, four in all)...But, hey, I have no shame!
As you can see, I had my Mochaccino once again. I couldn't even tell I was drinking coffee; the chocolate was so rich and thick. Again, it was served in the beautiful Mikasa china and had pretty designs in the foam. The Prof took care of dessert as well - ordering the Raspberry Mousse cake and the Green Tea Mousse to share between us...

This was really light. I found the "flower" design creative since it was made of pine nuts. I liked the texture of this cake better than the chocolate part of my raspberry mousse cake which I thought was kind of dry.

The top looked really pretty but didn't taste as good as I thought it would. I thought it was interesting how there were a few cake layers in the front but the wide end of the cake was all mousse.

On a side note, as The Prof and I were waiting for her ancient laptop (borrowed from her workplace) to start up, I saw a very familiar couple perusing the baked goods. It happened to be Darlene from My Burning Kitchen and her husband Paul (creator of the hilarious webcomic "Cool Jerk"). It was funny because Paul had just posted a comment on my previous Big Joy Post ("Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy") and said they were just there too! Small world and I guess you can tell our pastry obsessions!
The Prof's laptop was so old that it had a 3.5" floppy disc drive! Wut? We were trying to find the USB port for my flash drive so she could use some materials I had prepared for her for a presentation (it was in the back). Ha ha, remember the 5.5" floppies? You know you're old when you remember those! Used to great effect in "Sixteen Candles" when the Geek bets Weez and Bryce floppy discs that he could "bag a babe". Of course, since he doesn't really do that, he gets Samantha Baker's panties instead and his geek friends sell admission to the bathrooms so they can show the "goods":
To refresh your memory, here's that scene now:
Classic clip!
