Return to Gelato Vero Caffe

Wut?! Another coupon?

As Sarah Palin would say, "You betcha!" (Gawd, I HATE THAT PHRASE!)

In keeping with the week's theme of using coupons, TC decided on gelato at Gelato Vero Caffe in Mission Hills. This is right next to Saffron Thai Chicken. We'd been here before for their gelato and always enjoyed our choices.

You can combine two flavors even in a small size.

TC's - Strawberry with Caramel Fudge Brownie:

I had the Gianduja (chocolate hazelnut) with Spumoni (I wanted the cherries):

We stopped by Shakespeare's because TC wanted to look at their candy. She was hoping they'd have Harry Potter candies.

Turns out they didn't, Instead, the main table as you enter Shakespeare's had Royal Wedding memorabilia. A plate with Will's face anyone? You can put your crumpets and scones on them! There were all sorts of Royal Wedding souvenirs - mugs, commemorative plates, teacups, mini flags, etc. TC chose a couple of candies and off we went...

(Above - stickets I saw on an electrical box on the hill where we parked)

This was the candy TC chose - She was curious about the cola flavored gummy bottles. They were too sweet for me. The "Refreshers" were the favorite candy of the lady who rang her up (not the owner of Shakespeare's but another lady). She said they were favorite sweets as a child and she would buy them from the corner store. TC said they were her favorite British candy. They are these fizzy fruit flavored tablets. I think she likes the sensation of the candy fizzing in her mouth.

No canned Haggis or Spotted Dick for me that day. Neither did I succumb to the urge to buy a Union Jack printed thong ($9.95 by the way). I thought those were pretty funny but no! Maybe one day I'll try that Haggis!
