I'm back to my food road trip with my good friend D....
After our awesome breakfast at 85C Bakery, we moved over to the other side of the parking lot

Another bakery? Yah-huh!
I'd read about this place and wanted to check it out, Bon Epi, a Korean owned French and Asian style patisserie. It's next to a sandwich shop and a Korean restaurant.

There aren't crazy long waits to get in. No one yelling "fresh bread" literally every two minutes. But that's okay. I liked how stress free it was over here. But were the pastries any good?

The twisted pastry was a cinnamon and pecan stick (bought for Bert). I also got another hot dog thing, encased in oh-so-soft bread. Plus, I wanted to compare it to the one I usually buy at Zion and to the one I just ate at 85C. The packaged items were mochi balls that I bought for TC.

I tried one and found them to be chewy and very fried tasting. Not so good. They were coated with a light dusting of sugar. Well, my opinion of these fried ballz was overruled by Bert and TC's enthusiasm for them when I returned later that evening. They loved them!

D bought a few other pastries as well and our plan was to return here on our way back from L.A. so D could buy a sponge roll cake for her cousin.
As we walked back to the now filled parking lot, I noticed a bunch of exotic cars. The yellow and white ones were the Lotus.

This was an orange Lamborghini nexto to a gunmetal Maserati (I think that's what it was)...

I'm not too crazy about this shape. These kind of cars scream, "Mid-Life Crisis" and "I have a small penis".

Who else ate at Bon Epi?
Edwin Goei of the OC Weekly went here during its opening in 2009
as well as OC blogger Hungrybella
Our next stop was also within the same shopping center...

I'm not as fond of Bon Epi, but I am curious about those mochi balls.
hi k! welcome back from your vacay! :)
their rainbow roll was good but not spectacular. their hot dog pastry was good but not as tasty as 85c.
Those mochi balls were gross. They were just fried balls of rice dough then rolled in sugar. maybe they're good when they're fresh but after more than 10 hours in the car, they weren't. but my husband and daughter aren't as picky as me.
